Should I FP+ AK or DHS?

Need some advice. My friend and I will be at WDW at the end of February. We have an ADR at Tusker house for 9:00 a.m. and would like to ride the Kilimanjaro Safari following breakfast. Do you think FP+ is necessary? The reason I ask is that we have hoppers and will be at DHS in the afternoon. We have an ADR for dinner at 50's Prime Time. We would like to ride the Great Movie Ride and TSM for sure. Should we just do the standby line for the Safari in the morning and make FP+ plans at DHS in the afternoon?

Thanks for the help.

Looking at the crowd calendar on easywdw, if it is sometime during the 24th thru the 28th, I would probably risk a standby line for the Safari in order to FP TSM. I think GMR will probablly be OK for you to get on it after dinner.

Sounds like a plan :thumbsup2

Is it a recommended AK day? Are the crowd levels fairly low? If so I wouldn't think twice about using the FP at DHS. Makes more sense to use it for what is almost the longest wait in WDW and two extra rides as opposed to maybe 30-45 minutes at worst for the Safari.

I would use the FPs at HS.
1- queues are more pleasant at AK.
2- morning lines are shorter than afternoon lines

It's Feb so I wouldn't sweat it too much. I'd think you could hit Kilimanjaro and a couple other rides and still be out of there by 1.

Yes, use your FP+ for the afternoon.

I am not a big believer in character breakfasts because I think the first two hours a park is open is one of (if not THE) most valuable time for attractions with little to no standby wait, and because I think the lunches and dinners are better values for the cost (but thats another topic). But yes, save your FP+ for HS later in the day.

Thats the biggest value to a hopper now with someone who is willing to be in a park early. You can do headliners in your morning park, then hop to another park later in the day where your FP+ awaits you.

Because of this strategy, I have slightly altered my plans and guideline on non recommended parks. I can pretty much blow out a park by late afternoon if it is recommended, and now FP+ allows me to go to whatever park I want after that, regardless of whether it is recommended or not. Before, you wouldn't catch me dead in Hollywood Studios on a Saturday afternoon or evening.

Yes, AK is recommended. Crowd level is 3 or 4. I think I will take my chances on the Safari in the a.m. and make FP+ for the afternoon at DHS.

Thanks, everyone.

We could make the breakfast reservation earlier, but I am trying to take a more relaxed approach on this trip. My friend hasn't been to Disney since she went to the Magic Kingdom on her honeymoon 40 years ago!

If, by chance, your breakfast is on a day with AM EMH at DAK (Monday or Wednesday), you could get there at 8 and do the Safari first.

Either way, though, I agree with the others that I would take my chances on standby at Safari. If there is a line just use it to digest your meal.

Edit: I see that you now said DAK is recommended that day, so it probably isn't an EMH day.

How about changing to a later breakfast (10:30) and knocking out Safari and EE at Rope Drop?

In that case definitely go for it. You will be fine saving your FP for DHS. You can probably do even more at AK should you choose to before you leave.

Use it for DHS no question. I would also either move the breakfast up or later if possible to make the most of RD at AK.

I just returned and did this several times on my trip. I did standby for safari and did my FP+ for DHS. The last day I tried it, I got there a little later and ended up skipping the safari because the line was up to 75 minutes. But, the other days it worked great.

This is my only gripe with FP+... that you cannot park-hop your FP+.

Have a great trip!

That's probably what I would do.
9am is the worst possible ADR time in my opinion. If I'm going to be up and in a park at that point, then I want to take advantage of the short lines.

If that's not a viable option for you, then I'd still do stand by at AK and FP+ DHS.
