My family, and another DIS family, are taking the Norwegian Pearl to Alaska on May 30th. (Only 30 days now!!!:yay:)
I know that Norwegian's itinerary is different than Disney's....as in, we cruise out of Seattle, go to Glacier Bay and Victoria....but the other ports are the same...Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan....

I was wondering if I should do a trip report HERE...or maybe a Q & A...:confused3
Another difference is that we're going in the summer, and I think DCL's cruises are what..in the fall? Either way, I just wanted to see if there would be any interest.
Also....wondering if I should post on the Main Boards, or on the Trip Report?

Yes please!!! I'd love some info on the Alaskan ports!!

We can't decide between Japan/Tokyo Disneyland or Alaskan cruise for our 1st anniversary and last child-free trip so PLEASE do a TR!!

Have an amazing trip!!!

Do it! Do it! Do it! I want to hear every detail:) We will be sailing the exact same time frame as you, only a year later (Disney is summer also). We set sail May 31, 2011:)

You asked where to post it........ IDK, but please put a thread over here letting us know where to find it:) -I don't tend to go far from this section of the forum....

Yes, please!!! We are cruising August 2011 with Disney and would love to hear about the three similar ports.:thumbsup2:cool1:

Please post a trip report in the trip report sub-forum. DCL will be cruising AK from May-Sept. so it's within the same timeframe as your cruise.

Sure... now in Ketchican... I hear that there is a great place for crab... or was that Skagway??? Anyway... go find it pleasee... :woohoo:

I don't know why I thought the time frame was different....I guess I got the Alaska/Mexican Riviera's mixed up...but then NO ONE goes to Alaska in the winter. Sorry...I think my excitement messed with my head!!!

Will post a trip report on the trip report pages.

Is it okay to post on here to let people know when it's up??

Ketchikan looks so fascinating that my husband and I are just going to walk around and take pictures. Our son is going on the Aleutian Ballad (from the tv show Deadliest Catch) to learn all about crab fishing.
I bet that's where the great crab place is....I'll find it, no matter where it's at!

I think the best thing for your to do would be to put your TR on the TR sub-forum and then post a link to it in the Vancouver planning thread since DCL cruises are leaving from Vancouver.
I'll also add a link to it for our AK sailing and I'm sure others would be glad to post a link to it in their meets sailing as well. You better make it a good TR. :flower3: :upsidedow ;)

Are you going to visit me when you are in Seattle? ;)

What a great idea!! We're spending two days in Seattle before the cruise, because we've never been there. We're staying at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront hotel. I have a room reserved that faces the bay, so that when we get up in the morning and open our balcony door, we'll be looking straight at the ship!!!

Our basic plan is to tour Pike Place Market on the Friday that we get there (May 28) and we have nothing set in stone at all for Saturday. I know we want to at least see the Space Needle and some people want to eat there, but we aren't going to. My husband and son want to visit one of the airplane museums...I want to say it's the Boeing one?.....and I want to do the Underground tour in the Marketplace area...but that's all that we've really talked about.

I didn't know there was a Vancouver planning thread. I'll find it now, and save it, so that I can link to it easily.
Jay & I visited Vancouver B.K. (that's Before Kids!!!) and then went to Whistler....watching the Olympics from there was fascinating....but I imagine much about Vancouver has changed since then.

So here's another question....I had thought that since this is the Disney Boards, I should make the report more PORT SPECIFIC.....I was thinking that not too many people would be interested in hearing about the Pearl???
What does everyone think?

I'm also booked on the 5/31/11 Wonder to Alaska and would love to hear about the ports as well as the seas, weather, etc. While I've not cruised on the Pearl, I've done the Pacific Coastal on the Star, so am familiar with Norwegian.
Have an awesome trip and bring back lots of photos.

Ketichikan was one of our favorite port stops on our Alaska cruise a few years ago. The Totem Poles are amazing, you can find through out town and more concentrated at Saxman Native VillageandTotem Bight State Park. Bald Eagles are everywhere, I swear they were hanging out on top telephone poles! :)

I look forward to your trip report and IIRC, you will be in a Courtyard Villa on the Pearl? Well, be prepared to be spoiled. The NCL courtyard villa suite experience is awesome.:cloud9:

To give you the heads up, it will be pretty busy around the Seattle Center and Space Needle that weekend. But, also an idea for something to do.

I bought a new camera right after we booked the cruise, with extra telephoto lenses, just so I could try to get some good shots of the eagles...and any other wildlife. We're doing a whale-watching tour, too....so I hope I can get some good pics of them.
I'm so excited!

We've done two other NCL cruises, both in the top Owner's Suites (ships that didn't have the Garden Villas and Courtyard) so I have a little bit of an idea of how awesome it will be, but I've heard there's nothing quite like the Courtyard. We never ask much of concierge, but I've heard that on the Pearl, you don't HAVE to ask....they're just there, and they do it.

Lucky for me, my next cruise is on the Wonder in July, back in a Cat 6, so I'll get my feet firmly planted back in reality!!!

I thought I'd read somewhere that there's also something else going on that week, or weekend. The Festival is close to the Space Needle....that should be interesting, getting there and getting back. Would be fun to check it out!
:thumbsup2Thank you!
