Should I do a trip report?? (Alaska)

We were booked on DCL, but for various reaons wound up switching to the NCL Pearl. So, I may be in the minority - but would love hearing any feedback on the ports, as well as the ship.

I am a real fan of reading trip blogs. The benefit of doing a blog is that is great to go back and re-live your trip yourself, and it is also easy to share with friends and family who are not on the DIS
:rolleyes1

I find with a blog (i use blogger.com) that I do not need to upload pictures to photobucket first, which saves time.

Just make sure to post a link so others can find it.

That's a good idea!

Our basic plan is to tour Pike Place Market on the Friday that we get there (May 28) and we have nothing set in stone at all for Saturday. I know we want to at least see the Space Needle and some people want to eat there, but we aren't going to. My husband and son want to visit one of the airplane museums...I want to say it's the Boeing one?.....and I want to do the Underground tour in the Marketplace area...but that's all that we've really talked about.

Little unknown tip that isn't publicized much is that you can go up the Space Needle twice in one day for an extra small fee. Go up in day light and then when it's dark. If it rainy - don't bother.

The Experience Music Project near the Space Needle is well worth it - if your son is into music.

I bought a new camera right after we booked the cruise, with extra telephoto lenses, just so I could try to get some good shots of the eagles...and any other wildlife. We're doing a whale-watching tour, too....so I hope I can get some good pics of them.
I'm so excited!

With the gray whales - watch for a bubble ring forming on the water - shortly after a whale should appear in the center.

If you are going to Icy Strait Point - go down to the Government Dock. They were feeding not far from the dock - awesome viewing and you don't have to pay a cent.

Thanks Wendy!! :yay::yay:

You're welcome. Unfortunately, I think you'll miss the Inside Passage. It's the area between Vancouver Island and the Mainland. From what I've read/heard the ships leaving from Seattle bypass that part and the ships leaving Vancouver are right at the start of the Passage. Bummer.

Looking forward to reading your report. Enjoy Victoria. I took my cousin visiting from Scotland around some of the viewpoints and the Inner Harbour today. It's interesting to see it through a visitor's eyes - you don't really pay attention to how beautiful the city is when you live here all the time.

We cruise the Inside Passage on the way up to Ketchikan from Seattle, at least that's what our itinerary says. I'll wave at you as I go by!!

I know what you mean about seeing your own area from a visitor's viewpoint. We live in a western tourist town and day to day, I never notice all the places that visitors find interesting....until I have to take someone on the tour!

What a great idea!! We're spending two days in Seattle before the cruise, because we've never been there. We're staying at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront hotel. I have a room reserved that faces the bay, so that when we get up in the morning and open our balcony door, we'll be looking straight at the ship!!!

The Marriott Waterfront is a great hotel, and it's a stone's throw from Pier 66 where the Pearl docks. It's also conveniently located close to the elevator that goes up to the street level near Pike Place Market. Definitely do the Underground Tour, and I recommend the HOHO bus, too.
