Should I consider a stroller for 6yo?

Sorry to hijack a little but is the Joovy Caboose easy to maneuver with all the crowds and tight spaces at DLR? It might be something we will need in the future but it looks like it could be hard to steer. The stroller we have now is the baby jogger city mini which is super easy to steer, even with one hand. Just wondering for future reference.

The Joovy caboose was our them park stroller of choice, and they are pretty easy to steer, so long as you have the heavier child in the back!

From what I can find, the current Visa stroller perk is a 50% discount at Disneyland. So that would be $7.50 per stroller, for up to two strollers per day. Maybe it used to be $5?

The page also notes something about a special character greeting area if you have the Visa. Has anyone done this? Was it good?

YEAH thanks a lot. I didn't see that page! I went to my card account on line and clicked perks and that discount did not show up!
It does say you have to charge it though as it refers you to # 6 which says you have to use it.

The First Years Ignite (that I posted the link for) is a lot more expensive than a "cheapie" umbrella stroller. It has extended handles and is made for taller people. It also has a basket underneath. My husband is 6' and I am 5'5" and it is fine.

Like I said I have a disney card but my hubby doesn't. He may just have to get one. They are giving 40 dollar card credit right now for signing up! That would pay the stroller at 50% for several days. With 14 of us going the savings could really add up. Use a nice empty card and pay it off as soon as we return. I know my daughter wants to get my youngest grand daughter both outfits at bbb shop. !0 % covers the tax and a little more.

My 9 year old still loves to hop in the stroller...especially at the end if the day...but then again I LOVE pushing/having a stroller on our trips! I love having a place for my water bottle, snacks, packages, etc!! I'm weird like that!!

Oh yeah, the Ignite has a zippered pouch thing between the handles that also has a place to put a water bottle. I am totally with you on that one!

Disney Visa used to offer free stroller rentals up until maybe a year or year and a half ago. I remember because that was the main reason i got the disney visa. Then we ended up just bringing our own stroller and sometime after that is when they switched the disney visa discount to be 50% off stroller rental. They haven't gotten new strollers since we started bringing our DS a few years ago (not sure what they had before that) but yes they are the jogging-type stroller, sort of a teal color. I've heard of people putting their bigger kids in them though. DS is 5 and can easily fit in it but he's not very big for his age.

We did it on our last trip and it was GREAT!

It's at DCA (not sure if it's still there) and it's literally it's own separate, hidden gemstone! It was towards the end of the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area and I've been told that the characters are not always the same. Our last trip it was Chip n Dale, which was perfect because DS watched Chip n Dale the ENTIRE drive from Seattle to Cali. Seriously...the ENTIRE drive.

When we got to DCA that morning and I asked the CM's who the characters were and where to find them for the Disney Visa deal, I found out who it was going to be. I then went back to DS and told him that some special "guys" wanted to meet just him and only him. There was NO line, the characters where hidden from view so other guests didn't even know they were there and a CM was "guarding" the enterance. They had a photographer there and we got a free picture out of the deal too! It was TOTALLY worth and it made my son's trip!

Not sure if it's only on certains days of the week, but I know there was a time limit. If I'm remembering correctly, the characters were gone by noon. Maybe a littler earlier...so definately check into that!

Hmmm....I'm not sure?? I remember printing out the page that shows all the discounts offered and this went in my Disney notebook for our trip in Aug 2008. I clearly remember free stroller rentals as being one of the perks. Mainly because we were wrestling with the idea of what stroller to bring if any or just getting the free ones from Disney. Since we were flying, I didn't want to have to travel with a stroller but DH won the fight...saying DS would be more comfy and we would need it for the walks to and from the park. Funny...how I remember an entire arguement regarding a stroller 3 yrs ago but can't remember what I had for dinner last night!

Either way, at $5 it's still a good deal.

But I am wondering if they got new strollers?? When we thought of renting one, they had old, small joggers. At the time, I was concerned that my 3 yr old wouldn't fit and at almost 6 yrs, I KNOW he wouldn't fit now.

I got my card in 2007 and at that time strollers were free, it only lasted about 1 1/2 years or so before they changed to half price, still a good deal but free was nice. I did have to put the stroller on the card though that is a for sure, maybe some workers don't know this but every time I have got a rental and tried to pay cash they say it must be put on the card.

We love doing the meet and greet in DCA. Your child will get anywhere from 2-5 minutes alone with a character in a secluded area away from other children (we have even been with a character for upwards of 10 minutes when no one else was in line), plus you will get a voucher for a free picture (5x7 I believe) and this can be had each day you go to the meet and greet, but only one per day. On our last visit I did this about 7 days out of our 10 days at Disney. The only characters we have ever seen are chip and dale and pluto but our daughter loves the alone time with them and they are just (almost always) great with her and it is a great time to get some video of them playing with chip and dale or pluto. I believe it is only from 10:30 am until noon and it is located just past monsters inc. in the corner at a place that looks like it use to be a little food stand. You must try, it is a great perk.

I don't understand? Why would you need to "pay" for a free stroller rental?? You must mean when it was half price??
