Should I consider a stroller for 6yo?

This is a kid who has not used a stroller for over 2 years. I'm just thinking that it may be convenient for us to pile our water bottles and jackets on, as well as letting dd rest for a bit when she's tired. I'd probably buy a cheap stroller for the trip if we do this.

Im bringing mine for dd.and she is five. She probably wont be in it ,uch but it will be a nice break when she wants it

My dd is 5 but will be almost 6 by the time we get to go. I'm bringing a double for her and ds. We've never been to disney. But I know they will definately need a break! And it will be nice to have something to cart things around on. extra changes of clothes and what not.

YES you should! At first he/she will be happier walking but after a few mile>>lol They will change their mind especially when they see a lot of 5,6,7 yr olds using them.

I have a dis visa and a perk is 5 dollar stroller rentals at the park. Nice big stroller easy to push and will hold a pretty big child.

My daughter was 5 when we went to WDW last year, and will be 6 when we go to DL. I took just a single stroller for her and her (then almost 3) little sister to share at WDW. The both wanted to sit in it almost all the time! I think I even have a picture of them both sitting in the stroller (her little sister on her lap) somewhere. She still uses our double stroller at times, and I'm planning on taking it to DL with us.

So, I think a stroller might be helpful; however, it really, really depends on the kid. Have you talked to her about using a stroller? Is she open to the idea, or does she think it's too babyish? I do agree about it being great for storage and would recommend one with a basket underneath if you do decide to take one.

See I'm different. My 6 year old did not use a stroller and when I asked if she wanted us to rent one for her she got upset. She didn't want to use one either. But you know your child best and you can make that choice better. fyi, there's a Target down Harbor, you can get a cheap stroller there if you don't want to travel with it.

I may be in the minority, but I am all about strollers. I want to get to rides quickly without dragging a kid behind me who is tired and whiny. Leaving the park is especially beautiful when you have a stroller.

My twins are super tall (46" at 4 1/2 years), but not that heavy (the bigger one is 48 lbs., the other one is 39 haha). We have this stroller:

We intend to use them for the second time in May (even if he *is* over 50), and they are so light and convenient that I am fine with spending the $. This one goes up to 50 lbs.

I may be a bit over the top, but I always bring my double stroller with us for my DS5 and DS2. I also bring those cute back packs with the leash, for the times they don't want to ride and to carry some little trinkets for the line entertainment. Yes I'm one of "those" parents My DS5 loves the stroller and usually falls asleep in it on the way back to the hotel, if not in the afternoon with my DS2. This is a nice time to actually walk the shops without little fingers, or just enjoy people watching, or get those rider swaps done without little ones complaining. My DS5 starts complaining about walking in just a few hours at DL. DL is hard on our feet, imagine how it is when you have to take twice the number of steps! Just my 2 cents

I talked to her last night and dd6 is in favor of getting a stroller for our Disney trip - the word "babyish" didn't come up. Three out of four of our days the park is open early and closes late, and our family is the type to try to do **everything** practically until we collapse - even though I'll try to get them to take a mid-day break and go back to HoJos to rest a little.

I can see her needing a stroller. Heck, I can see *me* needing a stroller. The other thing is last time we were at DLR it was pretty cold (Feb) and we dressed in layers to adjust for the weather. Having a stroller for jackets (5 of us) and water bottles will be handy.

Thanks for the link to the first years stroller - I was looking at one almost like that (same brand but a little cheaper). Our dd is 41 lbs so no problem with the fit.

My DD hasn't strolled at home for years - but even on our most recent visit *11/10* she did ~ just in the evenings, we had a long days - park hours 8am-12am, she'd stroll when we returned to the parks after our mid day break.

She's 48" and 40something pounds. Her Disney stroller is a Mac Volo.

I can't stand "cheapie" umbrella strollers ~ they're teeny - they look like they're made for children to stroll their baby dolls/stuffed animals, your 6 year old won't fit - they're so short that unles your under 5"3 you're back will be aching from bending over to push it.

I second your dislike of umbrella strollers. They hurt your back when you have to bend over to push them all day. Also, you can't keep much in the bags on the back of them because the stroller is so light. Every time your kid gets out, the stroller will tip over backwards because of the weight on the back. Drives me nuts!

That said - they are super easy to deal with on shuttles and trains!

I just wanted to suggest that, if you have an older kid with a stroller, you don't bother moving it every time you go from ride to ride. Rather, park it somewhere central within each land. You can ride all the rides there, then go grab the stroller and just use it to go to the next area of the park. You'll still have it for the longer walks, and for storage, but you don't have the hassle of constantly moving and re-parking.

If you've decided to buy a stroller, I'd think about looking on Craigslist for one instead of buying a cheap one at Walmart. You'll end up paying the same money, but will probably end up with one that has storage or cupholders. If you're looking for the added benefit of storage, the umbrella stroller won't help you much unless it's empty.

How does this work??? Do you just show it like you do for the free picture in EP ?? Mine are 5 and 8 but the 8 yr old has "issues" that he tires easily ...it would be nice to be able to get one for them to share

We'll have to see if we can try it out before buying one. Space in our car is a huge issue so I won't be able to fit a very large stroller - it may have to be an umbrella type. I'll check out getting a used one - thanks for the suggestion!

Yes you just show the disney visa to get the 5 dollar stroller rental. You can rent up to 2 per day for that price. They are big roomy strollers. It is first come first serve on the strollers so get there early.
Mid day we would park ours at a ride and go back to our room for a break it was always there when we got back. Tie a ribbon or balloon on it so you know which one is yours.
