Should I confirm flights?

I've always used a travel agent to book flights - until this trip. I'm flying Transmeridian out of Syracuse next Sunday. When I bought the tickets in person back in December, I paid cash and was given a receipt that includes seat assignments. Do I still need to call to confirm the flights, or will the receipt be enough?

I would most definitely call to confirm your flights. I have a flight to Greensboro, NC from Hartford we made about a month ago on US Air. I got a little concerned when I didn't see my flights listed on their website. Turns out they've "adjusted" their schedules and moved us to earlier flights. The only problem is one of the flights is on a little "puddle jumper" plane which I absolutely refuse to fly. I called them today and they assured me I could take a later flight home which would be on the big jets - this at no charge to me.

I would check your flight right up until the day you leave - airlines have a way of changing things and they aren't always very courteous in letting you know.

Definately - airlines change flights, times and equipment, often resulting in time changes and seat changes. If they have an online option just register and check often. I always check the box for "e-mail notification" if available.

From booking until a few days out I check monthly after that I might check daily just in case. With the on-line option it takes seconds and can save lots of hassle. I travel alone with my two young dd's and even a seat change is important to me as they are two young to sit alone. I always check the night before and the morning of as well - I know I am obsessive but if it makes travel easier why not????

TMA operates only one departure flight per day, and the website shows that seats are still available on the flight I booked, so there are no time changes or apparent capacity issues. The TMS website also states that they do not overbook flights. Eh, calling can't hurt, though.

As you get closer to your trip, check your flight times again. Then check them again. I have been in several situations where the entire flight was cancelled. To make matters worst, the other flights that could get me into the D.C. in time for the meeting where sold out. However, the airline was very accommodating after I had an adult version of a temper tantrum. :teeth:

So check and double check!!!!

Well... the adult version of the temper tantrum won't work on TMA. So just keep checking.

The one downside to TMA is that as a charter airline they have no method or arrangements to rebook you on another airline.
