should I change to fewer days? Plus trip insurance question ?

I have a Fantasy Eastern cruise booked for May 30. We would fly out the night before so we would be gone 8 nights. I have been thinking about changing it to a regular 4 night Dream or a 5 night Dream double dip (we did the 4 night double dip in June and missed having a sea day).
Pros: will save $ (I have a placeholder so I'd still get the 10% off), 2 or 3 fewer nights out of town (better for pet care and DH's remodeling business--he hates taking time in the summer but I am a teacher, so....); for the ones I'm looking at there are aft cabins open (we had one this year and loved it); we really enjoyed our time on the Dream last month.
Cons: We did the Dream in 2016 and 2019 and a 3 night Fantasy in 2018, and don't get off in Nassau anymore, so nothing new to do; no new ports. It is basically a rehash of what we did in June with a sea day added in.

We are NOT cruising in 2021; I am planning a big WDW trip with all the kids/grandkids in June of that year for our 35th anniversary and WDW 50th.
DH would say "anything you want honey" so I thought I'd ask here as well.
And one big question: I already bought trip insurance (not through Disney); can I transfer it to another cruise or am I out of luck? Because that would negate some of the savings if I had to throw that $ away and buy another policy.

I would stick with the Fantasy. Also with trip insurance, you usually (depends on the company) have 2 years from the date of purchase to modify it. I had a situation last year where we changed the cruise and it ended up being 2 years, 1 month later than the purchase date of the insurance, so the original policy was null. They did refund me my $$ and issue a new policy, but I no longer had the "no pre-existing conditions" clause on the new policy.

I come from a family of teachers. I was a teacher for a short time as well. So, I say if you can afford seven days plus one away from the real world to relax and recharge before school starts, do it!

IF, however, you are wanting the extra time to prep your room or plans OR the money makes it too tight to enjoy, then take the shorter trip.

Either way, you will have those amazing memories to help make it through the rough days when everyone is ready for a break, but there’s not one on the schedule (or during testing).

If money is your main concern then definitely change cruises. If you can afford it then stick with the Fantasy cruise as you will have a different itinerary than Nassau. You need to check with the insurance company about your options.
