Should I change my stateroom?

Well, first let me start off by saying, I JUST BOOKED MY FIRST CRUISE, for the dream in 2012! :cheer2::cool1:

Would you have picked a 3night cruise with a Verandah or a 4 night cruise with a window? I picked a 3 night cruise with a Verandah, but give me honest opinions, not just something to make me feel better.

But also, now I have a worry, I spent a LOT of time researching staterooms but I forgot to consider seasickness. I booked a room for the front of the ship, but I've read rumors and should I change my room to midship?

Currently, I'm on the starboard side too. That's good right?

Do you normally experience motion sickness? This would be one thing to consider, as well as what deck your on. If your on a lower deck its not as much as an issue.

Also, starboard side just means that its on the right hand side of the ship if your facing the same direction as the bow.

I would go for the 4 day cruise. You will most likely spend very little time in your cabin. Having that extra day in your cruise will be so much more relaxing! Have a good time on whatever trip you choose.

I think I'm the opposite of texasmousefan. Our first cruise was a 3 night with verandah room and I so enjoyed just being on our own privvate outdoor space reading or talking or just being. As far as the front I've never stayed anywhere near there we've always been mid or aft. Some of the more recent post reflect no real difference motionwise between the different areas of the ship (front, mid, aft). I hear that from the starboard side verandahs you can se the fireworks during the pirate party but I've never experienced that first hand. Don't worry too much just be ready to have a wonderful time. :goodvibes

I'm with Miry. Both DW and I love sitting on the verandah in the morning and late at night before we go to sleep.

We have always sailed with verandah rooms, but we've only been able to use it on one of the cruises due to neighbors who smoked. If it were me, I would do an extra day with a window cabin. You can always go up on deck and enjoy the view! And you are right-the starboard or right side of the ship is typically the side with the best view of Castaway Cay (as long as the ship backs in, which it normally does)

I have mixed feelings on the 3 and 4 night cruises....

I believe a 3 night cruise is a great way for a 1st time cruise to get their 'feet wet' so to speak, with the whole cruising thing.

I personally love the length of a 4 night, it for me is a great lenght to geat away for awhile, without falling so far behind at work and home life. I love having a day at sea to relax after a port day, and Castaway beach day.

I too get motion sickness, and we have always had a verandah, as this too can help with the fresh air. But I have stayed in the aft, mid and forward, and I have never noticed that being a difference. I do believe that the higher on the ships decks the more motion you feel (IMO).

I do not think you are going to be disappointed with either choice :)

Longer is better. A 3 night cruise is really only 2 1/2 days, and is not nearly long enough! I'd go with the 4 night any day. We also noticed a big difference between 3 and 4 nighters on the Wonder; not sure if those differences are the same on the Dream but I'd imagine they are.

It is lovely to enjoy your own balcony, but in reality you'll spend very little time in your stateroom. The shorter the cruise, the less important the choice of cabin becomes.

Yes, all of the above is personal opinion.

I would say 4 day and a window! Even the 4 day zoomed by! Can't imagine a 3 day! how much will you really be spending time in your room to use the verandah?

a 7 day most definitely a verandah! Take the extra day you will be sooo glad you did!!

The more I think about it, the more I want a 4 night cruise. Will it be a hassle to change?

Pick your dates. Then, if you used a TA you'll call them. If you went directly thru DCL, call them.

If you didn't use a TA the first time around, I'd just cancel the current cruise and re-book thru a TA who specializes in DCL. There are several good agencies that will happily give you an nice onboard credit in addition to whatever credits you are getting thru Disney!

I would do the 4 day cruise with just an oceanview. For motion sickness, the lower the level and the closer to mid-ship you are, the better you will feel during rough seas.

I also would go for the 4 night.....but I also said I would not do another cruise less than 7 nights! Just too rushed!

I will also put in a vote for the 4-day. Our first and so far only cruise was a 4-day. Our CC day was a little on the rough side and we weren't able to dock - captain tried for over an hour. Because we were on a 4-day, they were able to quickly put out a new Navigator and our CC day became our at-sea day. Things had calmed down by the next day - water was like glass and we had the most beautiful day imaginable on CC. If we'd been on a 3-day we would have missed CC.

Also, we stayed in an oceanview and loved it (and are staying in one again in a few weeks). Our kids stayed in the bunk beds which are closest to the window or what would have been the verandah. Because it would have disturbed them, I probably wouldn't have gone out there. Also, we honestly got in the room late enough that I was ready for bed, too. In the morning, we got up, got ready and were out and sometimes didn't go back to the room until it was time to get ready for dinner.

Our oceanview room was almost as far forward as you could get on the Wonder. We went through some pretty rough seas and I honestly didn't notice any difference with how it felt in our room vs sitting and eating in the aft portion of the ship.

Having taken our first cruise in May, a 3-night in a verandah, I would absolutely recommend the 4 night cruise. We enjoyed our verandah, but we spent so little time in our room because there was so much to do on the ship!

In hindsight, we would have traded the verandah for an extra day on the ship.

It shouldn't be - as long as the 4 night still has space available, and you aren't in the cancellation window, it should be really easy to go online and price out the 4 night - or you can call DCL directly (if you didn't use a travel agent) and ask them to price it out for you and make all the changes. Congrats on your decision - I would go with the four night as well!!

I recommend the 4-day both for the extra length of the cruise AND for skipping the verandah. While I haven't done a 4-day yet the 3 days are really just too short to really get much use of a verandah. Plus I was so annoyed by others on THEIR verandahs - noise, smoking, etc. - that on future cruises I think I'll save the money for excursions and spa days and go with ocean view instead. :-)

We just got back from a back to back 3 day then 4 day on the Dream and had a verandah. I was shocked at how little time we actually spent out there so for the shorter cruises I don't think we would spring for a verandah room again.

The 3 day was incredibly short and we got to do so much more on the ship with the day at sea on the 4 day.

My vote is about the same as everyone else's. 4 day with a window!

I get incredibly motion sick and I wore the patch behind my ear on the ship. I was perfectly fine and we had some pretty good rocking the first night. You will find that the ship rocking at night is actually very soothing and it literally rocks you to sleep.

4 day with an oceanview. There is so much to see on the Dream. We had both a verandah and an O/V on the Dream in January and spent very little time on the Verandah as we were exploring all the wonders of the ship.

Our O/V was on deck 2 in cabin 2004 and I LOVED THIS LOCATION....SO CONVENIENT TO EVERYTHING!!!
