Should I change my dates?

We are staying at the Poly Dec. I've read that they are expecting free dining to start on Dec 8. But I've also looked at past discounts and it shows that there are normally discounts for the time that we are going but those don't roll out until later in the year typically. So, I'm not sure if I should keep my dates and take my chances on being able to get the discount or move my dates and get free dining. Any opinions?

Moving you dates before the promo is even announce won't guarentee you anything.

With that said have you already bought flights or asked off time? Why did you originally plan yhe 4-8? Think about all of that before switching for free dinning.

If the discount is very important to you then I wouldn't have booked until the discounts rolled out.

Discounts are offered to fill rooms. Your room is filled so even if a discount lines up with your dates whether you keep the ones you have currently or change them in anticipation you may not be eligible to modify to get the discount.

On the other hand if your current dates and resort are what is more important to you then just keep them and if you get a discount then great and otherwise at least you are going when you want and staying where you want.

Right, I know that it isn't guaranteed just kind of weighing options at this point.
We will be driving and we have a two week time frame to work with. The reason for choosing the 4-8 is mostly because I thought crowds would be a little lower during the week and earlier in the trip as opposed to the latter part. But it probably won't make that much of a difference.

Basically, I'm prepared to spend the full price, of course. But if I can save a little bit, that would be great. I guess it's just a wait and see kind of thing at this point since we are a little flexible with dates.

Free dining is rumored to drop next Monday, so at this point, I would just wait and see what is available then.

To get free dining you will have to stay at the resorts, with specific room type and during the time they specify and then book it. Having a reservation already won't get you the free dining regardless if it is at one of the resorts selected. DIS Unplugged episode from this week talked at great length about this. Its a crap shoot. If you cancel your reservation now, you will run into availability issues in trying to change it. If the free dining actually happens, you will still need to cancel your current reservation and book again to get the promotion. Again, you run into availability issues. Keep your current plans, wait for the announcement, if it fits your timeline try to get it. Just don't expect that you will. Good luck!!

I would keep your reservation and wait. You are going to save more money with a RO discount than FD if you are staying at the Poly.

Well, it looks like my decision was made for me. I wanted to at stay at a monorail resort and can't do that with free dining. Well, unless I got a room that costs way more than I was wanting to spend.
