should I cancel my trip 10-1 to 10-11?

we were planning on driving in from Texas this Friday.

Why?? Since there's nothing stirring up in the Atlantic right now that's probably a good time to go. Jeanne will be long gone from the Gulf coast/FL by then.

We fly into Orlando on 10/2. No plans to cancel.

I wouldn't cancel but I would check on the roads that you plan on traveling. I would imagine by the end of the week all major roads will be clear. But it wouldn't hurt to check and that way if you have to go a different route you already have it planned. Also if were planning to stop somewhere over night in FL, you might want to check on that hotel and make sure they are ok. I wouldn't plan on take a wait and see attitude on stopping over night. If you think you might stop somewhere in FL over night make plans for it.

Hopefully the tropics will start to settle down now. Yes hurricane season runs through Nov but as soon as those waters start to cool down you see less and less storms.

Seriously please check your travel plains...the I-10 bridges are closed in the Pensicola/Mobile area (Hurricane Ivan blew them away) so you may need an alternate route...otherwise come and enjoy your vacation...just keep an eye out on the Weather Channel and the coast of Africa.

definitely don't cancel. We just got back from WDW yesterday and a week ago Jeanne was threatening the coast & we were considering the same thing. It didn't hit last week as expected but it turned out we did have to leave a day & a half early b/c of Jeanne but it didn't ruin our wonderful vacation! And even w/the threat of Jeanne, the weather was wonderful last week. It rained one afternoon but that was pretty much it! Go & have a magical time!
