1900 PF will be relocated to another location in the GF during out trip. Should I change it to another character meal? We will be at the MK and will have already eaten at CP, LTT, and Chef Mickeys. Is there naywhere at the Poly that is comparable to 1900 PF?

I have heard that the Kona Cafe is really good -- it is not a character meal, but it is at the Poly. So is O'hana's, which is Lilo and Stitch. O'hana's may be booked, though -- you could also try Whispering Canyon Cafe (if it's for dinner) . . . whichever, whatever you decide, good luck and have fun!

why would you consider canceling park fare?

Because the lady in charge of reservations made it sound like they were moving it to a location that wasn't originally meant for dining and I thought it might not be good. Anyone have experience?

I read this on allears.net:

"1900 Park Fare will close for rehab July 9 through October 1, 2007. During 1900 Park Fare's closure, the Grand Floridian Cafe will offer a pre-plated character breakfast and dinner, "Supercalifragilistic Breakfast" and "Cinderella's Gala Feast." Also, the Wonderland Tea Party will be held at the Grand Floridian Cafe during this time. Citricos, upstairs at the Grand Floridian, will be open for breakfast and lunch with a menu similar to the cafe's. Citricos will also resume dinner seven days a week. (It is currently closed Monday and Tuesday.)"

We ate at 1900 Park Fare in June for the first time and it was a very good buffet, I myself wouldn't want to do a "pre-plated" dinner.

Hope this helps!

I'd keep the ADR seeing you already have the other character meals planned. From what I've heard the pre-plated dinner might actually be better...seeing the new venue is much smaller, the kids get more time with the characters. We're keeping our ADR for September unless we start to hear bad reviews, but so far things look good.

Don't cancel! This was posted on another thread and looks good.:thumbsup2
Correct Park Fare menu from CM that works there

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, seriously, here is the actual menu that is being served at GFC. How do I know this?? I am a server there and I have been serving this food all week.

Adults:
Appetizers:

Mushroom Triangoli - Mushroom raviolis in a mushroon broth topped with shredded vegetables.

Spicey Shrimp over Grit Cake - Shrimp sauteed in a chipotle cream sauce served over a parmesan grit cake accompanied with wilted spinach.

Strawberry Soup - this is the famous Park Fare chilled strawberry soup. It tastes like melted strawberry ice cream.

MIxed Green Salad - a mix of gourmet greens, (lola rosa, boston bib and frisse) held together with a thin slice of cucumber and drizzled with homemade raspberry viniagrette.

Soup of the day

Dinner:
Chicken Breast - Pan seared airline breast (has small wing bone in it) served with au gratin potatoes and asparagus with a red wine sauce.

Prime Rib - Slow roasted prime rib served with mashed potatoes and broccolini (a hybrid of broccoli and kale that produces a sweeter, less woody tasting broccoli)

Salmon Napoleon - Grilled Salmon served on a polenta cake with wilted spinach and a lemon caper butter sauce.

Shrimp and prosciutto penne pasta - Shrimp and prosciutto (salty, thin sliced ham) in an asiago cream sauce with asparagus.

Herb marinted tofu - Herb marinated tofu served over a mixture of stewed vegetables with a feta stuffed tomato on the side topped with balsamic drizzle.

Smoked Pork - Smoked pork served with cheesey gnocci and red cabbage.

Childrens menu:

Appetizers
mixed green salad - spring greens with tomato and carrots and ranch dressing.

Fruit cup - cantalope, honey dew, and grapes

Chicken noodle soup

Carrots and celery with ranch

Dinner:

Prime rib - same as adult, just smaller portion

Grilled chicken or salmon - served with brown rice and broccoli

Cheese or chicken pizza

Beef and Macaroni

Dessert:

Bread Pudding

Assorted desserts - carrot cake, chocolate mousse, fruit tart, key lime creme brulee, raspberry horns.

The restaurant they are switching it too is, IMHO, a much nicer restaurant than 1900 PF. 1900 is very dark, very dated (hopefully this will be rectified during the rehab). The Grand Floridian Cafe is very light and bright (think Crystal Palace). I, for one, and looking forward to our dinner there next month! :thumbsup2

I agree!! We're having dinner there in September and I'm happy about the refurb. I consider it an improvement. :goodvibes
