Should I cancel Chef Mickey ADR?

We do Chef Mickeys for our arrival day dinner each time we go to Disney. We've never had any complaints. In fact, we've never had any complaints about ANY of the character dinners at Disney.

I probably would not do 1900 Park Fare due to your childs age. I know that when my kids are that young, they do not recognize "face characters"....only the ones in full costumes. My four year old has just reached the age where she wants to have a meal with the princesses. She has just begun to recongize them. My 16 month old would care nothing about it.

I think you will be fine with Chef Mickeys, especailly if your parents main goal is to see their grandson enjoying himself. I mean, you will probably not walk out of CM saying "WOW, that was the best meal I've ever eaten".....but I also dont think you will think it is terrible.

i'm in the same boat as you. We have Chef Mickey reservations and have read the less than great reviews. I was also thinking of Boma. but we are going to try Chef Mickey. Even if it's not great, how bad could it be? I'm sure on a buffet everybody will find something that they like. It also seems like a fun atmosphere and your son will have a blast.

I have been to Disney many, many times (we are FL Resident Season Pass Holders). Anyways, you didn't say where you were staying and if you were going to have a car. However, Chef Mickey is a must see for BREAKFAST but the dinner isn't as great. You still get to see the characters and for dessert, for the kids and if you ask maybe for the adults:) , they give you unassembled cookies and the kids get to decorate them however they like. They give you everything that you would need. If it is your parents first time at Disney in a while CM wouldnt be the first place I would go to for dinner but I would definitely go there for breakfast. YOur son and parents would probably love it. If you really want to see the decorations at the Grand Floridian,I would suggest that you go to 1900 Park Fare (character dining similiar to Chef Mickey but it has the princesses instead). It is at the Grad Floridian and has much better food. I dont know if you are celebrating a b-day but it is a great place to celebrate one. I would also strongly suggest Boma. It is an amazing restaurant. You cant miss it. While you are at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, I would go to the savannah and look at the animals. At night, they have a special viewing of the animals(it is free and is open to people not staying at the hotel). Your son would have a kick out of it. However, if you are not staying at the Grand Floridian and dont have a reservation at a restaurant there I believe the only way you can get in is thru the monorail. You can get on the monorail at the Conemporary, Grand Floridian, Polyneisian, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot. If you were at one of the parks and wanted to eat there and then go to the Grand Floridian and go back to the park, there are some great restaurants. If you were at Magic Kingdom, they have Liberty Tree Tavern which is a family style restaurant. It has Mickey (sometimes), Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, and Dale. They food is pretty good. If you are at Epcot (a great park and fun for the entire family; if you want to go to Epcot but are unsure of what to see just ask me) I would suggest to go to the Garden Grill (character dining w/ Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, and Dale; it is country style and the restaurant "moves". Also a great place is Teppan Edo. It is a Japanese habachi restaurant and they cook your food right in front of you. They whole family would love it. If you went to one of the restaurants at the park (MK or Epcot) you can just hope on the monorail and if you do use the monorail make sure you ask on of the cast members if you can ride in the front with the driver (it is an experience you will never forget; it is better to ride in the front in day light). I hope this helps and let me know what you choose and how your trip goes!!!!!:yay:

Chef Mickey's is a tradition of sorts for my family as well.
My son is almost 14 and still enjoys going. :cool1: I wouldn't cancel ADR's based on opinions of others. Everyone has their own opinion and if I were you I would go to Chef Mickey's to see for yourself.

My DD was 21 months when we took her to Chef Mickey's for dinner. It was the best charter interaction we have ever had. We took her to 1900 Park Fare right before she turned three for dinner. She also had a great time there, however, she was a year older and now really into princesses.

Stick with Chef Mickey's. If you DS is having a great time, your parents will foucs on him and his excitement. I recall the food was better than I expected, however I think I had very low expectations due to reviews. You are paying for atmosphere and that is what you are getting!
