How I can obtain a 1974 vintage McDonald's restaurant playset? I've seen several on Ebay and Etsy, but they're all missing parts. I know the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked, but do you think it's possible Fisher Price has one stored at their warehouse? Used obviously. Before anyone asks, no I won't settle for any other set. 1974 or not at all, lol.

I'd say this is practically impossible, but do go ahead and call them. Let us know how you make out.

I don’t think Fisher Price would sell even if they had any inventory stashed in a warehouse because it would be a liability since so many laws for toys have changed since 1974.

If you’re really hard set on obtaining, why not try buying a few sets on ebay and hopefully together you can make one complete set?

Aside from the concerns @Genie+ addresses, even if Fisher Price had one in their archives the likelihood of them selling it is very very unlikely. If they do I imagine the price is going to be very very high.

What makes this particular toy so special?

Hello, can you describe which exact Fisher-Price toy you are looking for? Fisher-Price made a couple of McDonalds-related toys, but most were made later than 1974. Playskool made one in the 1970's as part of their "Familiar Places" line of toys.

Believe it or not, I actually been inside Fisher-Price's old warehouse/factory in East Aurora NY! They do have some older toys there but in private displays and offices and such. None for sale to the public.

I played with this at my cousins house back in the early 80's and loved it. My cousins were/ are a few years older than me. When they didn't want it anymore, my aunt gave it to Goodwill, even though she knew I loved it. But my aunt's another thread. I guess the reason I want it so bad is I know my 3 year old DS would like it, and toys back then were much better quality than now.

How neat you went to the Fisher Price factory. I'd love a chance to do that.

I didn't think of that, but that might cost hundreds of dollars. My mom's looking for it too. If we have no luck, I may try your suggestion. Thank you. ETA: Well, maybe, maybe not. I want it, but not for several hundred dollars. Lol

I have never even seen a McDonald's playset from Fisher-Price that's from the 70's but in 1990 there was a child-size McDonald's Restaurant playset that was the size of a child's playhouse that was part of Fisher-Price's Fun With Food line and I had gotten that playset for Christmas when I was five years old since I adored McDonald's a lot as a little girl but that's the only McDonald's Fisher-Price playset I recall. But you can call Mattel/Fisher-Price and ask for info but it's possible that the original Fisher-Price factory might've gone broke due to Mattel buying Fisher-Price in the 90's

Unlikely, but just would like to say I love Fisher Price stuff. ::yes::

I am by no means an expert on this, but a little googling shows that there are both Playskool and Fisher Price ones. It looks like the Playskool ones are specific to the 70's and the Fisher Price ones were made in the late 80s?

I know I had (probably still have it in my dad's attic) the Playskool Holiday Inn. That thing is was awesome.

I also think the chances of FP selling a set, even if they have one, is slim to none... but I just wanted to say that I had that set as a kid! You could wedge the trays against their necks so it looked like they were carrying them. I loved that toy... although my family *never* ate at McDonalds. I suspect it was a hand-me-down from a neighbor or maybe a garage sale find. I think I had it a little later in the 70s.

(Funny story: When my mom and dad were dating, the first McDonalds opened in their area. My dad invited my mom out to dinner, and took her to the new McDonalds. My mother was NOT impressed and didn't consider that "out to dinner." My father never made the same mistake again. My family ate at other fast food restaurants occasionally, but he never again took her to McDonalds.)

Is this toy worth the giant price tag to than give to a child? Old toys are now collectors items and the prices are wayyyyyy above what they originally cost. I feel there has to be a similar toy made now that can work for your 3 year old.

Is this it? It certainly is reasonable and they take Best Offer ... I am assuming something is missing? Why not try to piece the set together yourself buying a few different listings to get as much as you can ... then keep watching for the missing pieces. Folks do break down and sell vintage parts specifically for folks just needed a piece or two AND they often can make lots more money doing it that way.

This was my thought when someone suggested the OP buy a few partial sets to create one whole set - sell the remaining parts back out on EBay to recoup some of the costs.

YUP. I sell on eBay as does my son. He started as a vintage toy/pop culture seller. We buy "playsets" or dollhouses all the time and break them up in to pieces. So much more money and easy to ship. OP could for sure recoup their costs, or at the very least have the set they want for a reasonable amount by buying incomplete sets. The complete set is sold at a premium because you aren't doing the work.

If you’re looking for a playskool toy, why would you call Fisher Price? They’re not the same company.
