I have the 2005 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney Word, and I was wondering if I should buy the 2007 version. Is there that much difference in the 2?

Also, are there any other books that you would recommend?

Thanks!

I quit buying them. there is way more information here, free too.

I borrowed the 2006 UG issue from our public library and then purchased

the 2007 issue, so I would have the maps and other clip out info at the back

of the book. I didn't notice a huge difference between the 2006 and 2007

issues. I'm guessing the 2005 would be very similar.

I also joined Tour Guide Mike and found the site to have some very helpful info

to avoid the crowds and waiting in lines. I would recommend checking out

TGM and ,of course, continuing to visit the DIS boards. :thumbsup2

I get one every year. :) That and Birnbaums (cute pics!!)

I bought the '05, skipped '06, and bought '07. There seemed to be quite a bit of new material. Then again, my '05 was so dog-eared that it was about time! ;)

:cool1: YES, I buy The Unofficial Guide, Birnbaums Official Guide, and The Food Guide. BUT, like the person ahead of me said, they don't change much. A lot of the pictures are still the same. If you have a good Disney friend that buys them, just borrow them or go to the library. You might go to the book store and look at The Passporter. I used it the first year that I went to Disney. It helps you to organize your trip. See if it might help you.
The DIS Board is by far, the most current information that you can EVER get. Sometimes, I think The DIS has the info quicker than DISNEY!! HAHA ! :goodvibes

I have bought the Unofficial Guide in the past and thought that maybe I wouldn't this year, but I eventually caved and did buy it this year. $20 is a small price to pay to make sure that you get everything you can out of WDW, in my opinion. :wave2:

I picked up 2005 Passporters for $1 Call 1 800 Wayfarer Thery are wothit for the great maps show all the restaurants and the best maps I've seen. Of course some info is out of date but with the Dis you are always current on things.

I posted this same question a couple of weeks ago. I decided to buy it, and I have not been sorry. There is a LOT of information in there, even for an old pro. Go get it! :thumbsup2

I have the '06 and bought the '07 last week. Not much new material, as someone else said, BUT it gets me excited for my next trip. Plus, I did use the tour guides from the '06 book so it's nice to have new ones. I have Fodor's as well which is a decent book. Birnbaum's was nice to look at but it didn't tell you much on the negative side since it's the "official" guide. :)

I have always bought the UG. This may however, be the last year.

I found the Jim Hill rumor comments last year to be a bit of a bother. This year they were flat out OBNIXIOUS! Until they go back to publishing FACTS I am off the wagon!

I vote "YES", but that's because I love reading them! I actually paid the $8 for their online subscription service after buying the 2007 edition. They have even more "touring plans" online than they do in the books, so if you already have one older edition, and are just looking for updated touring plans, you might join online to access those. It's cheaper than buying the book :goodvibes

Am I the only one that hates this book - it's so dagone negative, a total downer. I think it flat sucks.

Birnbaums is what we use. :thumbsup2

I know that lots of people think it's negative...I guess I don't really see that. I love to know how everything works, etc. and, when I read it, I don't feel the negative tone that other people do :confused3

The first time going to Disney in years, I bought it and, after reading it, was expecting to wait in line for every single ride for hours...I was still excited and pleasantly surprised that that wasn't the case. :goodvibes

I don't think I'm a good judge, though, because I love reading all Disney guide books!!

I bought uf guide first and joined their website. The tour guides on their website are great and they are easy to print out instead of using the small print on the book. I also have Birnbaums but that is for DF b/c uf guide scares him too big with no pics. HA! I will buy passporter when it comes out b/c I have heard good things about it too. I agree that I learn more tips and tricks on this website but when it comes to the basics I want a hard copy! Plus I won't have a computer in the airplane or when I get there. YEAH IT IS COMING UP!!!! :Pinkbounc

No you are not the only one that hates this book, I just checked out the 2006 issue at our library, they have alot of negative stuff in the book, :sad2: most of the stuff that I like, they say the halloween party is way to crowded and you can't do anything, however I have seen no reports of that so far even with the sold out party Friday, everyone seem to have fun and got to do everything they want to do. Another thing that bothered me is that for accomadations outside the world they rated a five star gold crown resort according to RCI as a 2 1/2 stars, how can that be, where do they get ther info. There were also several restraunt reviews that were rated bad, but everyone on here speaks so highly of them. I am just going to quit reading the books, everyones opinion differs, I find most of the information I need to know here anyway, lots of opinions and different views, the dis if far more better than any book could ever be. :bounce:

I quit buying them and now get them at the library.

I do buy refills for my passporter so I can have the pockets. I use them to keep track of the little things we do on our trip. I just get the refill for the years that we go.
