Should I buy my Ent book now or wait?

I booked HOJOs with the ent rate so now need to get the card. The cheapest ones right now are $16.25, which seems like a pretty good deal, but the cheapness in me is wondering if that price will go lower in the next few months. I'm going late June so I think I'll buy in early May to be safe, but I'll just get it now, if $16.25 is the best I'll get.

Anyone know when they lower prices on these throughout the year? Thanks!!

You can get the card on ebay for a couple of bucks, shipped. If you're not planning to use the coupons, that would be the way to go.

The Ebay thing makes me really nervous. I don't know why, maybe just not much experience with it and I have a phobia of scams.

Thanks for the info about the free shipping! That makes a difference!

I got mine on eBay, no problems with it at all. The HoJo won't scan the card, they just need to see it. I'd probably wait since you don't need one quite yet......and remember if you do my points you can get points for buying the book thru them. :)

Wow, I just bought one off of Ebay. It supposedly is not registered. For $2.99 shipped, I thought it would be worth seeing. I just chose someone with really good feedback. Thanks for the nudge.

if you don't mind....which Entertainment book is for the Anaheim area? There are so many that come up when you plug in the zip. Thanks :)

I have an entertainment book for my local area, but do I have to buy one for Anaheim or can I use the card from my book?

You can have an entertainment card from any place in the United States so pick one that you can use the most of. I don't know the Anaheim one because I just ordered the card from Ebay, not the whole book.

The one for Anaheim is the Orange County one but there is no reason to buy that one. Especially not if you are only using it for hojo.

Just buy the one for your area, or buy the cheapest one you can find if there isn't one for your area, if you're only using it for hojo.

I've looked up the area zip code on the entertainment site, and there's nothing near enough to Disneyland that has a coupon...unless you're having an all over OC visit, there's probably nothing else you would want a local coupon for.

In the world for that matter.

Now, someone correct me as I don't use the Ent. book, but it's re-released every year, so I wouldn't buy one right when the coupons are to expire. Heck, can someone clarify on this?

Well, the older the book gets, the cheaper it gets. So if you're only using it for one thing, HoJo, there's no point in getting one so you can use the coupons.

But I'm not sure it'll drop much by June for the OP's trip.

For hojo, you just want to make sure it's good at the time of checkin.

I remember that my Entertainment book has AMC theatre coupons in it. Are those good at DTD?

Probably. :) Just remember those coupons have limits on them...like no *first two weeks* showings, that sort of thing. Read your coupons.

The one I bought off of Ebay said it was an unregistered 2009 ent card, so hopefully that means the whole year of 2009.

It will be valid until November I think. I believe that's when they expire...so that means I'll need a new one for our Dec trip. :)

Yup, they expire Nov. 1.

As far as needing it for check in at HoJo-- it doesn't need to be registered; they just need to see it. There have been conflicting stories about that here; a few people have said they definitely asked to see the card, but many (myself included) found that they weren't that interested. In fact, I dug mine out at checkin and said, "Oh, you'll want to see this, " and she glanced over and said distractedly, "Oh, ok," and went on with what she was doing. I suspect I could have never said a thing. But I wouldn't want to bank on it. For that reason, if I had no real use for the Ent book for any of the coupons, etc., I'd definitely buy one off e-bay for a couple bucks.

Personally, in all my visits, I have never once been asked for my ent. card (but I have always had one just in case).

However, Lorealle has told me that they are cracking down this year and the front desk staff has been told to ask to see the cards. So I would risk it by not having one to show.

So does going the Ent card route save more than say the Alaska package deal? I believe we've been quoted about 410 for 5 nights though the Alaska deal. Oh yeah, I'm new here. Hello. :goodvibes

You have to do the math for your specific visit with your specific dates. I've never found a package deal to be better than what I could find on my own, especially since I never book airfare with a package. Recently the sales from my area on Alaska, Jet Blue, Southwest, and Virgin America have been TOO GOOD to even *think* about using a package, especially since all but VA will give you a credit if the price goes down on your flights (with Alaska, they have a time-since-booking limit).

Do the math for your specific trip, see if it works or doesn't work out better.
