Should I buy memory maker now?

Thank you everyone for your advice, I just added it to my reservation!

Just to let you know....my son and I back in 2019 had 431 pictures with Memory Maker. Yes....that's right....431. It was WELL worth the money I put in for it!! We did TONS of character greets. That's where 90% of our photos came from. But we got some AWESOME ride photos too!

Ok not to hijack the thread but trying to keep from starting a new one. I went ahead and purchased. Do they operate the same as they used to where you get the photo pass card and then link it to the photopass in MDE is that how your photos get on there? Haven't used this in forever but hubby is going this time so we'll all be there except oldest who is military and over seas, so I'm hoping to get good family shots since the hubby rarely goes with us.

If you have magic bands, they will simply scan your band and it will then appear (usually pretty quickly, typically within a couple of hours or less) in your MDE account. Couldn’t be easier! They also still had the old photo pass cards to manually link pics for those without magic bands when we were there a year ago. My understanding is there will also be a personal QR code option to scan assigned to those using cell phone only (instead of magic band).

Hope that helps!

Sorry to post on an old thread, but I didn't figure it was worth starting a new thread for a similar question. I was (am?) on the fence about whether to get it for this upcoming trip, but when I go into the my disney page and look under tickets a memory maker comes up. Is that left over from a previous trip, or does that mean I purchased it for this trip and didn't realize it?

The same thing confused me, we still have 2 old Memory Makers showing. I guess it is to help give an easy link to the photos… but aren’t the photos supposed to expire?
As far as getting it again? We think it’s worth it. One thing that is annoying though is they advertise all those newer magic shots (like zoom, and World etc) but very hard to find the photogs able to do them. On our last trip we went way out of our way in each park to find one and each time we found out there wasn’t a photographer scheduled that day to do them.

I can’t decide if this will be worth it. It will be myself and my 18 year old sons graduation from HS and both our birthdays at the end of July. We are doing one park a day, rope drop, back to room and back to the parks in the evening.

Are the lines really long? Can I wait and buy it later, once I see the pictures and see if we used it enough to make it worth the price? Is the parks the only place they set up? Do they take pictures if it rains?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to make the best decision for the $.

Some lines are really long, and some are not. If you plan on a picture down main street at MK, then you will wait in a long line. Here is my secret tip, so don't share it on these Boards with others, go to the bridge at the Hub to Liberty Square. Walk across the bridge. Immediately to your left there is a CM with photopass. He/she will take great castle shots and the line is generally way, way, way shorter than straight down Main Street. ;) Shhhh! Tell no one.

It only rained heavily one day that we went, and I don't recall seeing CMs for photopass during our downpour, but remember you do get pictures on attractions for free with DMM too.

I've never seen Photopass CMs at a resort. I've never been to a waterpark at WDW. There is a Photopass Studio at DS that has CMs to take photos? Bank on the CMs being at the big 4 parks.

My DW purchased the DMM package with our trip. I was a skeptic. I have printed two pictures for my office, and created a large vinyl artwork for our home and printed a third picture for our home in a 5 x 7 frame I bought at Emporium during our vacation. I'm no longer a skeptic. It was a great addition to our trip and I'm glad my DW purchased it. Again, shhhh!!! Don't tell my DW I said that. ;)

If you use the MDE app, there is a tab for photopass pictures and you can see the photos. I don't think the watermark over the pictures does it justice but our pictures turned out really well. I'm not sure if you can purchase DMM after-the-fact, as my DW was responsible for the purchase.

As an addition, all of my electronics have our DMM pictures as my wallpaper. Lots of good memories while I'm out and about.

It’s $30 more expensive to start using it immediately than if you purchase a few days before your trip.

We usually are not photo people, but we got MM last trip and had a great time. A few hundred pictures, including cute magic shots. If the line was too long, we just skipped, but plenty of times there was no one or hardly anyone waiting. They also have some really cool perspective in-and-out shots and 360 shots now in the parks. With you and your son celebrating, I think you could make it worth the money.

Thank you for the great feedback. I think we are going to buy it. I will wait until about two weeks before our end of July trip 😊

When AP sales come back, our consideration for upgrading from 7D PH is mostly for Memory Maker, especially with the 50th celebration trips, new magic shots. I think the savings from 2x 7D's is nominal for the upgrade, and we already booked our hotel (won't be taking advantage of AP discount this trip). Just really want MM.

Quick additional question.. we have MM bought for our upcoming trip but if we upgrade to AP (only 2 outta 3 of us) is there a way to cancel MM to not be used this trip? The 3rd person would be with us at all times so no need ot use MM on those photos.

I have read more than one report from people who received credit for their MM purchase when upgrading to APs. Good luck!
