Should I bring birth certificate??

Ds who is just eight has always looked a lot older for his age, might have something to do with me being 6ft tall and dad 6'5'' However, last time we were there he still looked like he was under 10, but add 5 inches and a maturing face he now looks like he is at least 12. We are doing a dining plan, so I was wondering if I should bring the birth certificate just in case we are asked to prove his age. We are always getting nasty looks from people when we tell them he is only 8....they act like we are trying to pull a fast one on them and get something cheaper. I just don't want any surprises on vacation. Thanks!

I wouldn't bring the actual birth certificate but a certified copy just in case you lose it.

Pease DO NOT bring original birth certificate. I am going to our motor vehicle office to get our seven year old a non-driver ID for proof of his birth date. It is a goverment issued ID and can be used as an ID just like an adult drivers license. Plus it is very easy to carry around and can be used for many years as his official ID. In Florida it cost either ten or fifteen dollars as compared to twenty dollars for a certified copy of his birth certificate. I feel that this is a wise investment as compared to doing damage or losing the childs original birth certificate.

I wasn't planning on bring his original just a copy. He will be issued a military id when he is 10, so I am not going to worry about a state id, since we move a lot. Thanks for the advice...I'll just bring a copy of his certificate to ease any worries I am having.

I totally agree not to take original birth certificate. The cost to get a certified copy in MO is $15. I took my ds last Saturday to the DMV and got a non-driver ID card. The cost was only $11 and he can carry it with him at the parks. (he sure thinks he is cool with his ID card, but was hoping it was a real drivers license) I called Disney to make sure that the ID would work and was assured that it would.

Since your son will be eligible for a military ID, it seems someone must be in the military! (nice deduction, huh? ) As his certificate should be in the member's military record, just have them ask their personnel office for a certified copy. It is "official" for all intent and purposes and nit just a home office copy.

I wouldn't bring one nor will I ever.

If anyone ever asked me I would just regal them of birth stories including music and news of the year.

Disney won't ask for a birth certificate and neither will the airlines (unless a lap baby).
