Should I bother?

Planning a stay in June at BCV. (My first trip home)

Based upon what I read in some of the other threads about BCV not accepting room view requests, I didn't bother making a request when I made the reservation.

Now I am reading that some people have made and gotten room view requests. Should I bother to call MS and put in a room view request? Will they "look at me funny" when I do?

I will be staying in a 1 BR. What view should I request exactly? (Being that this is my first time using my new "home away from home" I don't have the experience to know even what to request)

Thanks for your suggestions!

I'd call if I were you. We made reservations at the BCV for next February and we added a couple of requests. If we get them fine, if not, that's the way it goes. But it is well worth at least requesting.

No, you will not be treated differently just because you had the gall to actually make a request. No, they will not go out of their way to give you a room counter to your requests.

I usually limit my requests to smoking preference and ONE other criteria (floor, view, general location.) We've been very successful (or lucky) thus far.

But honestly if you've never been to the resort, you may not even want to bother. You may discover that you like one room / area more than another in time, but those are decisions best made for oneself...not necessarily based upon the experiences of a group of strangers. ;)

I'll be headed to BCV for the first time about the time that you do (end of May and early June). Other than NS, I didn't make any requests---thought it would be more fun to see what happens. When we stayed at OKW in Jan. (our first DVC stay) I was thrilled with our location--while it didn't overlook much water, we had a quiet pool to one side and a pond to the other and an unexpected fireworks view at night, plus within easy walking distance to the Hospitality House. Guess if you go with the attitude that, hey, it's Disney and DVC so it will be wonderful regardless, you really can't lose or be disappointed. JMHO
