Should I bother to ask about seats?

I'll spare you the long story, but I just booked a last minute flight (Saturday night) to Florida for myself, DS13, and DD9 on Jet Blue. Needless to say, there wasn't much seat selection (I'm guessing it will be a sold out flight) and I consider myself lucky that we got seats at all and aren't flying stand-by.
So, my question is this: Should I even ask if it is possible to sit together? Or will Jet Blue just laugh at me or tell me I'm crazy? My kids have flown plenty of times before and are more than capable of sitting on their own and entertaining themselves for a few hours. Just not sure how comfortable others would be with someone else's kid stuck in between them.
I've never booked a last minute flight like this so I didn't know if it was something people routinely ask.
FWIW - 1 seat is in row 12 (so first half of plane) and other 2 are further back. These are not the extra leg room seats and didn't cost any extra.

It never hurts to ask once you gt to the airport...all they can say is no.

I would ask, they sometimes hold seats for airport check-in. Once on the plane, I would look for someone further back who would be willing to swap for row 12.

Thanks!
I think I will ask then, knowing that we'd be OK if they said no. And if that doesn't work, I will definitely keep my eye out for someone on the plane who might want to trade up. I already told the kids that we would not be sitting together; so if it ends up working out, then all the better. :)

Keep checking between now and when they close seat selection online. Something may open up. The seat map should also open up at the 24 hour mark.

No one is going to bat an eye about kids that age sitting by themselves so don't worry about that.

Truthfully I would just go with the seats you have and spend the next day or two getting ready and not stressing and bothering and spending time checking on seats. It is only the transportation not the vacation.

Truly, I don't think jetBlue holds back any seats. They also don't offer any bargain pricing on the Extra Legroom seats even once inboard the plane, but some people may choose to upgrade at that point anyway - freeing up more seats together elsewhere in the plane.

Thanks guys. I think I'll check once at the 24 hour mark, just to see. Then I'll ask once at the gate if it isn't too busy. Otherwise, I'm just going to go with the flow....:thumbsup2

I'd ask if its possible. If i am flying solo and am asked if I am willing to switch seats I am more than willing to do so.
