Should I book rack rate? Ouch!

I want to stay at Pop and the Polynesian in May. For the dates I want I can get the AAA rate for Pop, but not Polynesian. I usually book the AAA rate and then wait for the AP rate to come out.

So should I book the rack rate (OUCH!) and just pray that AP rates will be released and forget about the AAA rate? I guess there's a pretty good chance I'll get AP rates since they were just released through April. What would you do? -Stephanie

I want to do May 8-17th

4 nights pop, then 5 nights polynesian

I can't be too flexible on my dates b/c my AP expires on 5/17

Can you afford to pay rack rate? If not, book somewhere you can afford, and then when (if?) discounts come out, book the Poly then. There doesnt' seem to be any advantage to booking a room at rack rate in order to get an AP discount, when the AP rates come out you need to basically book a new room and cancel the old one, having a room already booked won't help you get an AP room

I just booked POP last night (May 6 through May17), I was told there were no more AAA rates available for this time. I also had her check the moderates, no AAA rates left for these either!!?? So, I booked two rooms at POP at rack rate. Hopefully AP rates will come out and I will apply it to my rooms, maybe even upgrade to a moderate if the price is right!! I booked a value at the rack rate because there are six of us and we definately need two rooms. Cannot (or will not) pay rack rates for anything else given our need for two rooms!! Besides , , , the girls were looking at the pics of POP Centrury on Allears.net and are VERY excited to try this resort out!! The only thing they will miss is the pool slide!! I wonder why they didn't put one in when they built POP?? Anyone know?!?

Maybe I'll just book 2 or 3 nights at the Polynesian so at least I'll have those. I guess I'm just worried that if I book all 9 nights at Pop and wait for AP rates then there won't be any availiable at the Poly. With tax a garden view room at the Polynesian is almost $400 rack rate

Are you guys pretty confident that there will be May AP rates released at all?
