should i book now?

we plan on going to wdw in dec,should i go ahead and book now,room only,then when codes come out, apply the code to my reservation,then purchase my uph tickets? it's our first trip,so i'm a little confused and trying to save as much as i can.

That's what I did last Dec. I booked the room 6 or 7 months prior and then when the code came out I called and they changed the rate. I also buy the hopper tickets separate but I wait awhile just in case a good package deal comes out (for us that has never happened). If a good package deal comes out you can cancel your room that you booked earlier and then rebook.
I haven't done a package deal since the 80's, for us it's not worth it.

UPH's seem to be expensive if you ask me, depending on how many days you are going, you may be better off just buying regular park hoppers. I don't like UPH's because if it rains and you don't go to the parks one day, that money is lost. With park hoppers, the day still remains and it never expires if you don't use it. Just take a look at the prices and figure out what may work better for you.
Yes I would go ahead and book now , and then if something better comes along you can switch. You may want to consider www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com , that's what they are best at doing and they will be the ones watching for any codes to come out for you, but still with that I would keep an eye on codes myself. I used them before and I was very happy with their service.
