DH & I are going to WDW from 9/30 to 10/7. I completely forgot about Columbus Day Weekend...Should I be worried about the crowd levels for that week? i'm sure the weekend is going to pick up, but our flight out on Saturday, 10/7 is at 2:45, so we won't be going to a park that day. I was thinking that possibly Friday, 10/6 was going to be pretty crazy...Any input would be appreciated. Thanks... :)

We will be there at roughly the same time and have heard that the locals will mob the place Saturday the 7th through Monday the 9th.

I hope not! But we are contingency planning to relax elsewhere just in case!

We have been 2 years in a row over that weekend - and he crowd level is larger than I would like, but still very manageable. We only go in the "off season" because we don't like to wait in line or fight for parade / firework viewing spots. October in the last few years seems to be getting more popular than it had been 5 years ago, but it is certainly not anything like a peak weak, so don't worry. The only thing I found really disapointing was going to see Spestromagic in the MK at night - the park was mobbed - the most crowded that I have ever seen it. They only run that about once a week that time of year so I guess it was like a magnet, and attracted everyone on property that night!

By using fastpass to your advantage you should have no other problems though. I don't think we waited any longer than 20 minutes for anything. Try some other crowd avoidance tips like avoiding EMH parks...people seem to flock to them. Don't stress about it... you'll have fun no matter what!

I went to DL that weekend last year and it was packed. That might have been because of the combination of the 50th and the long weekend. It should still be doable if you have a good plan and utilize fastpasses.

We were there last year also and it was crowded. If I remember it got worse as the weekend went on. It was doable with a good plan. We went to MNSSHP and that night we did lots of rides with minimal wait. Don't be afraid just be prepared. Have fun!!

I just checked both the WDW website and the unofficial guide's website to see what days for EMH and the best days for which parks. I noticed that most of the EMH days fall on the same days that were rated the best days on the unofficial guide's website. I don't know what to do now...

I think your worring too much, but I have a suggestion. From what I can tell it looks like it is just 2 adults in your party - right? Well why not concentrate on exploring all the things in WDW that lines and crowds don't really effect? Take some time to smell the roses......

For example spend an afternoon and check out a Disney Deluxe hotel - Have lunch at AKL, explore the hotel and check out the Savanahs. Or Hit the Wilderness Lodge for the ladybug release and Free daily tours that leave from the lobby then take you to the smokehouse in back and up on the roof for a birdseye view of the MK? ( The Floridian has free daily tours too)

Sign up for one of the Backstage tours and spend an afternon doing that.

Plan to concentrate on Expolring World Showcase inside and out. Snack your way around the world while you see the films that each country has to offer. We used to rush right through and miss out on all the charm and atmosphere that really exists there. Now that we have discovered it we spend a
great of time there we love it so much. Catch the Candy lady and the Tin toy museum in Japan, The British Invasion in the UK and the Acrobats in China all in one afternoon... and so on.

Well that's my 2 cents - hope it helps.
