Should I be entitled to a refund?

Yesterday I cancelled my Netflix subscription. I knew I previously got charged at the beginning of the month for my next months service, so I checked my Visa account online and there wasn't a charge, so I went ahead and cancelled my service. This morning there is a charge that was posted to my Visa for the next months service, even though I cancelled the same day, I assume my cancellation and their charge just crossed each other. I have written to Netflix and written to my Visa company to say I didn't feel I should be charged, but haven't heard anything back as of yet. Just curious if you all thought I should be entitled to the refund or not.

You should be entitled to a refund for services you aren't going to use but many of these companies use automated systems which set up your billing on a certain date. You'd have to notify them in advance to interrupt the automatic entry of your charge.
That being said, I'm interested in why you decided to cancel. We considered joining but have heard very mixed reviews of their service and turn-around time for DVD's. BTW, one of the biggest complaints I found in doing some internet research is that they do not cancel subscriptions promptly and people continue to get charged!

We cancelled our subscription because the shipping time to Italy is horrible on DVD's. In four months time we were only able to see 6 DVD's, so it wasn't worth the money. We do not get DVD rentals over here readily, so we thought it would be a good program, but we are losing to much money. I have written to them on two ocassions suggesting they do a special program for military overseas, but I never got a response. However, on the flip side, I know some people in the states that love their service and say the turn around time is great.
