Should I be concerned

This is our first trip and I am so excited. We are leaving Wed night and I just looked at the 10 day for orlando and all I see is rain. Is that just a shower every day or are we looking at all day rain showers. I just want to see some sun........

Don't be concerned! First off- in the summer months it always rains at least once a day, usually doesn't last long though. And you can still go on most of the rides, in fact the wait time is usually minimal b/c everyone else is running back to the hotels for cover.

I have some of my best memories running around MK in the rain. Just grab a poncho and enjoy it! You're in DisneyWorld!

Oh and if you happen to see Peter Pan while its raining, I'll bet he'll be jumping in the puddles with you! Enjoy your trip!

We had the same forecast for last weekend...and it didn't rain at all! The sun was out every day, with not a cloud in the sky. Of course, it was VERY hot, but we had fun anyway!

in Florida in the summer months you can't look at just "rain" because that is on there EVERYDAY, however you need to look at the percentage. Not only that, in the summer it's like 80% chance or higher, but the rain is just a quick storm and sun again. You'll be in great weather, dont worry.

Rain and Orlando go hand in hand =) They usually are quick afternoon showers that aren't worth stopping for. Buy ponchos at Dollar Tree before you leave (2 for a buck!) and shove them in your bag. If it starts to pour, throw them on and hit the big attractions, as the lines disappear. People often think they're going to melt so they run for cover or back to the hotels

Don't sweat it, it's just Florida! Enjoy your vacation!!!!!!

Definately nothing to worry about. Last time I went, we had the same thing on our 10 day forcast. Only one day did it get bad tho, the rest of the time, the storms blew in and out really fast, or passed over us entirely. Sometimes the brief storms can be a blessing by chasing people out of the parks. Have fun!

Sounds like they are just patches of rain usually!? I guess it doesnt hurt to enjoy the rain and ride the attractions! Hope you all have fun!

I'm gonna be right there with you splashing in the puddles. We arrive at WDW on June 1 and everyday of our trip has a forecast for rain...anywhere between 20% to 60%. I've got 3 ponchos per person for the trip just in case one gets ripped...they are dollar store specials...and I've told DH and DS to plan on wearing shoes they really don't care about and expect to get wet at some point. I put most of the things in my backpack inside ziploc bags so it's easier going through the security checks, just need to remember a big one for the camera...just in case. I'm trying to remain optimistic because I just need a vacation...rain or not.

See ya at WDW...I even laminated my lime green Mickey from Home Depot so he'll stay dry.

I leave for WDW on the 10th, and personally I'm hoping for some rain on the days I go to the parks! As others have said, it doesn't (usually) last long, and after even a brief shower, a lot of the crowds disappear for at least awhile, making life much easier and less hectic. The worst place for it to rain though would be AK since it's so out in the open, but I've always loved it when it rains in MK. MGM's not bad in the rain; Epcot isn't so fun if you're trying to go on Test Track (I finally got on it last year after many trips where there were t-storms and the ride shut down), but otherwise that's not too bad (unless you run for cover in the shops, and it can get to be really tight quarters then). As for me, I just pull on my poncho and zip around while everyone else runs for the exit, LOL. Fun times.

We arrive in Orlando on Thurs and my 9y/o was sooo disappointed to see that rain was forcasted everyday! But my response to him was "it's Florida, of course it rains!" LOL

I'm just praying it doesn't rain all day long, everyday.

Go and enjoy , just bring ponchos just in case - we had rain in the forecast for everyday and it clouded up a couple times but never actually rained. We were kind of hoping for rain on the night we did EMH at MK - we wanted it to thin out the crowd - LOL

We were there for a couple of weeks during the opening of the 50th and it rained and stormed quite badly for about three of the days (in fact if we were to add up the amount of rain we have had during all our other trips during the years the amount wouldn't come even close to just one of the three days).

We had one very miserable day at Kennedy, but had loads of fun at WDW (3 fully grown men) running around in ponchos, getting on rides without Qs, playing in the puddles with sandals on.

In short we decided to each drop 30 years and act like we were youngsters again (well it is Disney), when was the last time you ran through a puddle trying to get wet on purpose? Try it!

And just because it's raining where you are - don't let that stop you from going to a park. One time, around the first of June, we did something non-Disney in the a.m. (I don't even remember what now). We were off-property near DTD. Anyway, the plan was to go in the a.m., come back to the hotel for lunch and a brief rest, then head to MK for the rest of the day. Well, about the time we were ready to head out to MK, torrential rains came, and continued ALL afternoon, well into the evening. So we stayed in. That evening, we were taling to other folks at the hotel who had spent the whole day in MK - and it never even sprinkled there!

All of our other rain experiences have been the short lived shower - just enought to clear out Fantasyland!

The first time we went to Disney was for 8 days the first week of June. Well we arrived in Orlando and it was sunny, got to the hotel and sunny, got to MGM and sunny, went on our first ride Voyage of the Little Mermaid came out and it was pouring. Well it poured for 3 days straight. I couldn't believe it. I thought it would never stop. My kids were 5 and 3 and it just made it even more work for us. Well on the evening of the 3rd day of rain we were walking through WS at Epcot and all of a sudden the sun came out. Lucky we had 5 more days left and it was sunny the rest of the week. As much of a bummer it was with the pouring rain, we just scheduled our days for anything that was inside and dealt with it. My kids didn't even seem to care about the rain, I think I was the one who was most bothered by it.

What rides close down when it rains and lightening? When I was there the beginning of may Kali Rapid River closed lightening, and we were rained out of fantastimic. It went for 15 mins then they all of a sudden stopped and said everyone evacuate immediately. Just curious.

Test Track closes when there's rain. When I went in 2003, it began to drizzle while we were on the outside portion of the ride, and when we were exiting the vehicle, they were holding everyone else in line. We thought we were pretty lucky we got on when we did.

One thing to remember: Bring Flip-Flops or water shoes with you!
Remember that Sneakers Do Not Dry Overnight in an air-conditioned hotel room! Wet Shoes = Miserable, Blistery, Soggy Feet
Just stick the flip-flops in your back-pack, they're nice and light, right?
