Should Disney compensate me

Haven't read all of the posts. No, I do not think you were entitled to any compensation. It was merely an accident, and not negligence on Disney's part. If it was really raining that hard, I would assume all surfaces were slippery and would probably be holding my child's hand if he didn't slip. I am sorry your son got hurt and hope he is healing well.

Same.
Thought if it were true, I would think Disney would offer replacement tickets.
(not a refund).

But I agree with others I think this story is total BS.
Sorry. Disney employees are not perfect by no means but they don't look at a crying kid and point to a sign and say.. slippery when wet.
Then take 30 minutes to get medical help.
Quite the opposite, they are trained to ask anyone, no matter how small, if they would like medical help. And trained to ask at least 3 time and get 3 no's before stop asking.

It's fake complaints like these that make people skeptical of all complaints on the Disboards.
And just proves you can't trust everything you read, especially on the internet.

Calling an ambulance for a hurt wrist is overkill, IMHO, and taking away from those who have real emergencies. A cab ride to the ER or urgent care will take care of it. My dd slipped in a wet hotel atrium (right outside the pool area), and needed stitches on her chin. DH took her to the ER.

BTW, they do make waterproof casts - they just cost extra.

is there any way to lock this post up? Anyone? Bueller? haha don't want this to turn uglier

I definitely don't feel that the OP is entitled to huge compensation or a free trip, however, I'd be curious to know exactly what the disney procedure for dealing with injuries is supposed to be. I'm quite certain that the procedure is not "tell the injured person to get up and move so that we can load more people". That doesn't seem quite right. I can totally understand the OP's frustration at the way this cm behaved and based on how quickly I've seen other cm's react to possible medical or injuries in the past, it doesn't sound like the cm did the right thing here. What if someone got off a ride and was having a heart attack or something more serious and collapsed and the cm blew it off and was more concerned about clearing the platform than getting that person medical help? Would all of you feel the same way? The cm, who is trained by disney, acted irresponsibly, IMO. I highly doubt that this cm followed protocol. Maybe reimbursing the OP for the water park portion of their tickets which they couldn't use due to the injury or some other kind of small compensation would have been a nice gesture to make up for the lack of concern for the welfare of one of their guests.

im sorry that your son got hurt that always sucks when some one in the group gets hurt but there is no reason for you to get compensated if it was raining and there are wet signs out pepople need to be more careful.

Disney uses a never ending rotation of college students as CM's in all sorts of positions. I don't think it is possible to properly train them for every type of circumstance. I think this is something Disney needs to look into because I have noticed a slight decline in the usual Disney customer service over the years. I'm not sure compensation is in order but I do think Disney needs to address some of it's customer service issues.

I hope your son is doing well and you don't let this unfortunate accident ruin any further Disney adventures you might have.

Sorry I must have missed when you said that previously. I believe that's how things work with Disney. You pay the medical bills and they pay you back. I suspect that you will receive your medical bills back (or your travel insurance will if they paid it) but I don't think that you will receive anything else in compensation.

One thing that you may not have considered with the rude CM ... he may have been concerned about your son being injured further by other guests if he was laying on the floor of a busy train station.

If you think it needs to be closed, click on the little triangle & tell the mods why. They simply can't read every thread.

OP, I'm sorry this happened, but rudeness is in the eye of the beholder. I'm not one of those "Disney can do no wrong" people, but honestly, their track record with injuries is pretty good. (I've seen it.) Is every Disney CM perfect--never rude? Of course not, they are human. But the overwhelming majority are really good & care about what they do. I would believe the most you will get from Disney is medical bills paid and/or the water park costs refunded.

If you are compensated for the medical portion of it then I think that Disney went above and beyond. No one gets compensated for any CM being rude plus it doesn't sound like the CM necessarily meant to be rude.

I hope that your son is feeling better.

Try Pontins or Butlins next time then eh?

when it rains, things get wet. It's not rocket science

You'd think the OP would know this coming from the U.K.!!!
