I voted Other. While I am all in favor of the addition of more thrill rides to Disney parks, assuming they are well-themed like most every other attraction, I don't think a hypercoaster would fit the landscape of the parks. That said, were they to build one, I would absolutely ride it.

I'm amazed that several topics like this have popped up in the last week. Disney is not a thrill ride company and will NEVER build an intense roller coaster on their property. EVER. That's not their demographic, that's not what they do. And that's ok, because EVERY. Single. Other. Company. Likes to build lots and lots of roller coasters and not much else. You want coasters? Go to Universal or Six Flags or Cedar Point. They've got plenty.

I don't know why people say they are ugly. It's 2014. Some of these coasters are sights to see. The Hulk is a massive looking coaster and fits the theme of Marvel Super Hero Island perfectly. Manta and Kraken at Sea World as well.

It fits the theming in a sense that it's green. It's still ugly.

I think I voted no mostly due to coaster discussion fatigue. WDW just isn't really a coaster park and continually agitating for a park to become what it isn't when it's very successful makes little sense to me.

If they ever built one, you wouldn't even have to ask me twice to ride it. I'd be on it like white on rice...but the odds of it happening are slim to none.

If you want crazy rides, go to Universal or Busch Gardens. If you want something that won't unexpectedly dump you out on a 100000 foot drop (SPLASH MOUNTAIN ;_; ) go to Disney. You don't need hardcore rides at Disney with so much else surrounding Orlando with tons of wild stuff already.

Plus every time Disney tends to do anything wild or over the top people start keeling over on it and the media has a field day.

Disney tells stories, they don't just build big metal roller coasters. God knows there's a millions (Cheaper!) amusement parks out there is you want roller coasters. Personally, I think that's what sets Disney a part from the "competition," they do things there way.

No. A megacoaster's giant hunk of steel would detract from the theming.

Agreed. I for one love rollercoasters and the thrill. I visit Six Flags Great America and Cedar Point often. But I personally do not go to Disney for the thrill of rollercoasters. I go for the theming and the magic of it all! :)

This is exactly what I am thinking. Why do people want to change the look and feel of Disney so bad all the sudden?

Building a Mega Coaster in WDW is like putting a Topless bar in Downtown Disney, next door to the Lego store. Somethings just don't belong.

Or... Just because you CAN build it doesn't mean you should. :sad2:

I voted "other". :surfweb: For me, I'd hate another coaster. Just not a coaster fan.

However, if Disney did decide to build another coaster it needs to be a coaster with a story. A coaster alone is not what Disney is all about. Every attraction has to tell a story.

I vote no, even though I am a roller coaster junkie (the bigger the better in my opinion!) But that's not what I go to Disney for. Disney is about theming, details, imagination, none of which pertain to a megacoaster. It would be very hard to "hide" one from the rest of the park, and that would pull me out of the theme experience Disney has worked so hard to put me in.

Ha ha!!!! :rotfl:

Yes yes yes!!!! The "click clack" sound and feel and the ruggedness is exactly what I love about wooden coasters.....steel coasters can't give you that!! The only steel coaster that comes close and not in a good way is Space Mountain. I've always wanted to go to Magic Mountain!!!! Colossus looks very cool......this is the Walley World coaster!!!! That's on my bucket list.

You better do it by Aug 16th then! Because that's the last day Colossus will run :sad2: :(

We are making a special trip at the end of July to get in one last ride before they dismantle it

My thought is this:

They can build whatever they want as long as they can theme it. In my opinion, the CAN...but it might not be worth the investment. If they did a megacoaster with great theming, I don't see why it wouldn't fit. They might have to get pretty creative, but it could be done.

I would ride it, but I don't think it is necessary to add one either.

Hyper coasters are indeed big ugly looking things that would ruin the view from many parts of WDW.

Disney is just not the place for them. Magic and pixie dust, family attractions and history and the future is what Disney is all about.

If folks like hyper thrill coasters the place to go is Uni and 6 flag type parks! There are plenty of those parks around the country.

AKK

I don't think that coasters are ugly and I don't even ride the extreme versions. I wouldn't care if Disney built a good one and I would expect that Disney could find a way to theme it.

Every attractions should tell a story? That sounds good but they don't all do so.

I voted other just because if Disney built one, you can bet I'm on it but I don't see it as a necessity, like others have said.

That being said I want to point out that yes, Hulk is pretty ugly on the outside (both my mom and grandmother pointed out that Universal is great but it's "Not Disney" on our day trip to Uni) but the inside queue is actually pretty well themed! They've got the gamma stuff and the TV monitors showing the premise behind the coaster! I think for a coaster it is pretty well themed where they thought they could do it!

:)

I know the Florida water table is wonky, but is there a way they could build DOWN instead of up? Like scoop out a big chunk of land and put the coaster down in the hole? Then it wouldn't mess with sight lines. And as long as there is a story and it's themed, I'm all for it.

I remember seeing plans once for a dueling coaster that was Star Wars themed where one side was the rebellion and the cars were X-Wings and the other side was the Empire and the cars were tie fighters and they duels around the track.
