Should DCA bring back a Bugs Land?

As much as I dislike Avengers Campus, that ship has sailed. Do I understand correctly that the animation building is also going to be removed to expand Avengers Campus? Yeah, let's not do that.
That would be a travesty. That building is one of the most special places in the park. I was disappointed when they closed down the Ursula section where she stole your voice and now the last time we went the Beast’s Library is also closed.

Does this include Buena Vista Street and Carthay Circle??
Good question! So far all Disney has confirmed is that expansion of Avengers is ongoing, and construction of Avatar will begin shortly. They haven’t confirmed the location but various sources are indicating that they’ve begun clearing out the buildings in Hollywood area.

Definitely possible the expansion could take up part of Hollywood and stretch into the entrance plaza. But it seems DCA is going to become the hot mess DHS turned into.

I wouldn't mind Avengers extending if it had more inspiring theming, but the tech campus look is so yuck.

I feel like this land gets wayyyyy too much love

It was cute but the rides were for babies. Like Bumper cars that can;t bump?

The Train ride was cute but compare it to any of the other train rides here or even at knotts and it was no where near as interesting as other attractions like it

It was a fun theme but Disney messed up, instead of making the 3D show into dark ride they just had a bunch of ok flat rides

Bugs Land was a subpar Disney experience. It’s Tough To Be A Bug never fit the theme of the park and was likely added solely for cost (in other words, cheap). It was tucked alongside a “land” whose star attraction was sitting in the heavy equipment provided by its sponsor. Something you’d expect to see at the country fair in Idaho or Nebraska.

An early criticism of the park was the lack of kiddo rides. Disney took one of the weakest pieces of the park and added some cheap off-the-shelf kiddo attractions and elaborated on the Bug’s Life theming.

I get it - nostalgia is a big piece of the Disney experience. People reminisce over how their son loved to sit in the heavy equipment when he was 3. That doesn’t mean it was good or ever belonged in a Disney park (and let’s be honest, kids get excited over anything).

Universal Studios is building a theme park for kids near Dallas. Maybe Disney should respond with a similar park. If so, Bugs Land would be a great fit. But it’s not the most popular IP so I’m sure it’d be branded as something else. Inside Out?

Most of DCA still is a subpar Disney experience, if anything most of the "improvements" in the last 10 years have made the park worse and less cohesive. It'd be one thing if Bugs Land was replaced with an upgrade, but it got replaced by a cheap knock-off of an industrial park.

I don't think A Bugs Life is super popular with today's children, so no, no bugs land, especially since Avengers Campus is successful and only growing. But more family friendly, slower rides? Yes, but with IPs the kids today care about like Moana, Encanto, and yes, even Frozen. I think we like the nostalgia of bugs land, but it's not enough of a classic to be worth it.

Got to disagree with this. At least the first part. I don't really have an opinion about bugs land. But I think DCA offers a great Disney experience. There are some truly great locations (Cars Land especially) and the theming holds together. As you move through the park the transitions are smooth.

From 2012-2018 I'd agree, but it's basically a half-day park in its current form because there are so few attractions especially outside of Cars Land.

I mean, they can't even get the Pixar theming to hold up throughout Pixar Pier itself.

I’m not at all a Marvel fan but it’s hard to argue that the “Avenger’s Campus” isn’t a huge hit — especially among younger males who aren’t traditionally Disney people. Nonetheless, Bug’s Land was a cheap land built around a sponsor that Disney added a recycled attraction to and several off-the-shelf kiddie rides. You’re making it out to be something it never was.

Disney’s added a lot of attractions to DCA and both Car’s Land and Avenger’s Campus are immersive experiences. They gutted the live entertainment post-Covid and that’s left a hole in the park, but it’s hard to argue that DCA is any less of a park that Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom or Epcot.

I walk right thru Avengers Campus and don't even stop - nothing there remotely interests me even though I know some people love it.
For me Bugs Land was huge, we spent so much time there before we had kids, then when our 1st was a baby she loved it. Sadly our 2nd never got to visit the land.
The Chew Chew train was so good and one that I really miss, the little splash area is missed, the wonderful theming is missed.

They keep trying to cram in too many intense rides and forget about what is supposed to make Disneyland so great - the small things for small people!

My Kids are 5 and 8 and honestly could care less about what IP the park has, as long as it's fun they couldn't care less if it was something they know or don't.

I'm also upset at how much DCA is being taken over by Avengers, but I guess it sells?? I'd prefer Frozen, still can't believe Elsa and Anna only have a meet and greet in all of Disneyland, for one of the top grossing films of all time!

All the DCA 2.0 stuff was basically cloned into WDW, sans two Cars attractions. I’m guessing Disney don’t want to spend $400M-$500M building out Cars Land at DHS.

Mater's was cloned as Alien Swirling Saucers. RSR is an improved version of Test Track. And Disney is spending that money to build Cars Land in Magic Kingdom. So WDW will have it all in 7 to 10 years.

I appreciate your disdain for all things related to bugs land but I don't think you can speak for everyone as you have been doing. Bugsland is nostalgic for many of us but it was more than just some cheap rides (although I am not arguing with you on that). Bugsland was what Disney was suppose to be. When you entered Bugsland you entered another world. You were a bug and it was awesome. The theming was amazing in it's entirity. My wife absolutely loved it at Christmas with the jumbo ornaments! My kids love to be a bug and we rode Heimlech more times than I can count. It was what Disney was suppose to be. I remember taking goofy pictures with my kids being bugs at all the photo places. It was immersive and it was aimed at kids. Every park needs a few places to take your kids to unwind but it also needs some places for kids to have fun and be in a world of their own. Toon town does it in DL (and I think Fantasy Land does it too as well as Tom Sawyers Island). DCA does not have a place like that anymore. Closest would be RedWood Creek challenge and the animation building but they took out half the interactives in the Animation building. My kids are past the age but it is the biggest negative DCA has done was removing Bugs Land.

Does anyone remotely believe that A Bug’s Land’s return is even being considered? I don’t understand this thread.
