Should certain groups be given priority to attend the parks?

Just thinking that with restrictions in attendance Disney will have to determine who they allow into their parks and I’m wondering who this community thinks it should be.

I think everyone should have an equal chance but its a reservation system for everyone

Say if the limit for the day is 999 people.

1. 333 reservations are for resort guests, regardless of resort type
2. 333 reservations are for AP who do not have a resort reservation
3. 333 reservations for offsite , non AP guests

The reservation gives you access to a specified park on a specified day, no park hopping. You would be allowed enter and leave your specified park multiple times during that day.

Each Disney account would only be allowed to hold one park reservation for a specific day.

There would be a limit on the party size for each reservation.

My theory is loosely based on the reservation system that Disneyland California had back in May 2019 when Galaxys Edge opened.

I think people staying on site should have priority. Disney needs the money at this point to get everything back on track. And resort guests would have the most money invested into their trip.

I can't imagine how upsetting it would be to spend many thousands on a whole vacation package and then be turned away at the gate

I think capacity closure phases remain the same... It is rumored that MK capacity is 80-100K. Even at 25% that is a lot of people. Epcot holds even more than that. At full capacity, Disney World resort hotels can handle about 160,000 guests.

For me it makes the most sense for capacity closures to continue along the usual stages as too many have already made reservations coming from across the country to block out certain guests for their entire stay. If you want to get into a park just get there early, if one closes due to capacity move on to another park, or wait until the evening when some families have left and the park has room for more guests.

anyway, the OP question, I think they have to allow on site guests and at any level.
they will lose more money by cutting off out of towners that can’t afford deluxe and it is boarder line discrimination.
IMO you can’t tell a family of six staying at a value suite, they now need to upgrade and pay 3 or 4 times the price in order to get in.

From the crowd management perspective I think that limiting to resort guests may work best. I think Disney can most easily try to make it up to local pass holders for having to limit their access for a longer period, but I do feel bad for those who then planned vacations not involving Disney resorts.

I also think it would be effective to align day-park-resort to maximize transportation and capacity during this. For example on Monday it could be Magic Kingdom for a subset of six resorts while Hollywood Studios has a different subset of resorts.

Can't see this working as a new type of ticket, unless they are going backward in policy and no longer accepting older tickets. THAT would cause total anger from customers, so they can't easily build any more of a tiered system during regular business hours than they already have.

they COULD heighten up the Resort/DVC only activities and afterhours events. Those might return with a smaller capacity of tickets sold AND a crazy premium price for them.

for example: Halloween themed resort activities. Have Characters host a parade and scavenger hunt and M&G instead of jamming everyone into Magic Kingdom. make it just like Hoop-De-Doo and other premium activities you need to reserve (and pay!) for. you can't just wander into the Fort that night and find yourself at the Revue. Same with the other Resorts ; yes they have legitimate business with other guests to use the restaurants and such. You can look around, but you can't Pool Hop nor attend a premium experience.

As a current annual passholder, I voted for resort guests regardless of resort type. But, I don't want our passes to "start the clock ticking" until we enter a park.

Yeah Disney should give us a choice on when to reactivate our APs. Im not going to pay $$$$ to stay on property just so I get into a park.
