Should athiests eat Easter candy?

Should athiests eat the Peeps?

  • NO! Holidays are becoming too secular and this is why

  • Yes, it all started with pagan celebrations anyway

  • Who cares? It's just candy, geez

Candy is just candy. You should be able to eat what you want whether you believe or not.

*backs away from the jellybeans* :tiptoe:

I'd better stop eating them anyway, I need to save room for the religion my parents will cram down my throat at dinner later tonight. :upsidedow

If a person is not a part of the christian religion but enjoys the candies and goodies that come out this time of year is that being hypocritical? I'm fairly certain there were no marshmallow chicks or chocolate bunnies present at the last supper and I don't think the Easter Bunny was there for the resurrection. So is a person who participates only in the secular aspects being a hypocrit? :confused3

poll coming
I dont think Peeps and bunnies or jellie beans really have any religious significance so munch away:rotfl:

I'm Jewish, and I can't live without peeps. What's great is that since we don't care about when we eat them, we can take advantage of the sales. :)

As a pretty conservative Christian, I say eat away! Who cares? It is just candy. Besides, shug if you didn't get into Christmas a lot of people would suffer from the lack of cookies!!!

And please feel free to consume as many peeps as possible. I hate those things!!

Anyone who believes in the Easter Bunny is welcome to munch on my Easter candy. No church required. :goodvibes

Heck yeah they should! I love cadbury creme eggs !

I've actually never understood why they don't have them all year long. I mean, they are chocolately eggs filled with yummy sugary goodness--we don't need a holiday to appreciate that! And isn't the cadbury company really shooting itself in the foot by not selling them year round. I think they could make a lot more money that way (they'd be getting a lot more out of me at least).

They actually do a Cadbury's chocolate bar filled with creme egg filling now in the UK - and these are sold all year round! ;) :thumbsup2

It would be unchristian to withhold yummy chocolate from anyone on any day of the year, wouldn't it?! I say pass the chocolate! But I doubt I'll share MY Easter candy!! :rotfl: (It is already gone anyway!!)

Peeps should be eaten by anyone who has the stomach to be able to keep them down. YUCK!

Easter candy (as well and Christmas candy) is a commercial product using standard ingredients in a different form to make some people a lot of money during the holiday seasons.

One good thing about being a devout heathen is I get to eat whatever I want whenever I want. I can even eat pork on Fridays.

I love this!:rotfl:

According to the woman behind me in line at the grocery, by purchasing and eating easter candy, when I don't celebrate the resurrection, I'm guilty of secularizing "her" holiday :confused3 When did Jesus bless the cadbury mini eggs?

I hope you turned around and told her that "Her" holiday was stolen from the Pagans in the first place, and that what does CHOCOLATE have to do with "Resurection Sunday" in the first place?

*shudders* Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. Stoopid people abound these days.

No candy for anyone. Especially Americans...we're all ballooning to enormous sizes anyway right? Christians go to church and Athiests can go jog the block a few times for an Easter treat.

so should vegetarians not eat chocolate bunnies, peeps or cadbury eggs because they symbolize the consumption of animals?:lmao: sorry but i have some diehard vegan relatives and i just don't get it when they refuse to eat 'poor little animals' but they shape their tofurkey into a turkey shape to cook it 'so it looks like the real thing':confused3

if athiests can't eat easter candy then i guess i'm in trouble-i'm one of those christians who grabs the clearance chanuka chocolates on sale at harry and davids every year:scared1:
