Should athiests eat Easter candy?

Should athiests eat the Peeps?

  • NO! Holidays are becoming too secular and this is why

  • Yes, it all started with pagan celebrations anyway

  • Who cares? It's just candy, geez

If a person is not a part of the christian religion but enjoys the candies and goodies that come out this time of year is that being hypocritical? I'm fairly certain there were no marshmallow chicks or chocolate bunnies present at the last supper and I don't think the Easter Bunny was there for the resurrection. So is a person who participates only in the secular aspects being a hypocrit? :confused3

poll coming

I'm not Jewish, but I stock up on Passover Coke when that comes around......*shrugs* If I buy it, I have every right to enjoy it.

Easter has nothing to do with candy, bunnies, jelly beans, etc. Easter is about an empty tomb that brought great hope and promise to the world.

so should vegetarians not eat chocolate bunnies, peeps or cadbury eggs because they symbolize the consumption of animals?

And are vegetarians allowed to eat animal crackers?

I agree. ::yes::

As far as the "paganistic" side of Easter goes (ie Peeps and bunnies and so on), I see them as a celebration of Spring. I do celebrate the religious aspect as well as the commercial one for that reason, and it makes sense to me.

Easter is a great time to celebrate the passage between winter and warmer times, and I feel like taking advantage of all the spring-themed candy is an opportunity that is there for everyone, regardless of whether you are also celebrating the ressurection of Christ. :thumbsup2

According to the woman behind me in line at the grocery, by purchasing and eating easter candy, when I don't celebrate the resurrection, I'm guilty of secularizing "her" holiday :confused3 When did Jesus bless the cadbury mini eggs? :confused:

Didn't you know that the Easter Bunny was on the fourth cross way in the back?:rotfl2:

Passover Coke? Not Jewish so haven't heard about it.... is it different than regular Coke?

And..... if my Jehovas Witness neighbors can eat Easter/Halloween candy anyone can. They love it and they are very into their religion.

I say if you can afford it.... buy it....eat it..... and wipe your mouth. ENJOY!!

YES! It's made with REAL SUGAR and not high-fructose corn syrup. I savor every glass. It's the way they used to make it before the syrup. It was only in a few markets last year and I think it spread this year. Maybe Coke will bring it back year round for those who are willing to pay more for it....like me and others who love it.
