I voted not sure.

I know we have to turn off the flow, to allow us to assimilate the illegals who are already here. I'm not sure if a fence would be the most effective way to do that. But if it is, I'm all for it.

We've got to do something. The current plan in Congress is a joke. I'm trying to see how this is any different than the last plan that was passed, and then promptly ignored.

Absolutely not. What a ridiculous and expensive way to close ourselves off from the world. If we build one along the Mexican border, we should build one along the Canadian border, too. Why not keep out all illegals? Or do we just not like Mexicans? We have far, far bigger problems to deal with in this country. Let's spend the fence-building money on helping our homeless or improving our school systems.

With what money? We're... what... $800 billion in the hole now and Iraq is costing $1 billion more EVERY WEEK.

I answered yes.
How about no fence, but properly funding the border patrol and doubling the number of patrol officers by the end of 2011? Could that possibly work, 'cause it's probably going to come up for a vote here pretty soon.

No...It is a waste of money and pointless.

The way to slow immigration is to remove the incentives they have for coming here.

Make it a mandatory prison sentence for anyone who hires illegals.

Don't let babies born here have automatic citizenship.

Require proof of citizenship to attend a public school or college

I could go on and on, but basically, it would be much cheaper to just make this an unfriendly place for illegals.

A fence is wimpy, expensive and won't keep people from going around. We have too many miles of borders to secure them all.

Right now, we've basically got one officer per mile of border. So we cut that down to a half mile? I don't think it will do diddly squat.

And 2011 is 5 1/2 years away. By that time, I'd estimate another 2.5 million people will have entered illegally, and once they're in....

holy moly, I can't believe that Charade and I agree on something, YES I think a fence should be built....and wait, the end of the world must be coming because I don't even give a rats behind if Haliburton builds it or not!!!

and to top that, the Shrub, Bu$h himself, even did something right today and came out that he backs legislation to make those SUVs and trucks get better gas mileage (25 mpg) by 2011!!!

I voted NO because I don't think thats the problem

I think they should make it harder to stay here and enact harder enforcement of the laws already in place.

As far as the Illegals coming here and trying to be legal to stay .Well boy do they have another thing coming .

The only reason they have these lower paying under the table jobs are that they are illegal. If they become citizens they will have employment rights and thats not what the employers want so they will just add to the unemployment that exist now.

I would say go after the employers but most of the GOV. have been caught with one or another cleaning their mansions while on our payrole.

I voted yes. It isn't the only answer to the problem, but it is part of it.
