Shorts or Pants?

Our family is headed down to DLR on Friday morning for a long weekend (coming down from Seattle). The question is, should we pack shorts or pants? Being from the Northwest, mid 60's/70's is definitely shorts weather for us, but we didn't know how it is in Southern California. I know sometimes it is like 50 degrees, but "feels like" 40 with windchill and humidity up here. How is it down there? We will probably pack a mix of shorts and pants, but wondering what I should expect weather/clothes wise for this weekend.

Also, anyone been recently and know what the crowds are like this time of year? Should we expect long lines, or no lines?

Thanks, so excited to go!!!!

Weekends of course are always busier, but you've missed the President's Day crowd, so it won't be terrible. If you went during the weekdays, you'd get much shorter waiting times. You should definitely pack both pants and shorts, because I know Southern CA has been subject to quite a bit of rain recently (though I don't know how it is currently).

I would recommend pants as you are climbing into and out of ride vehicles and doing a lot of walking. Weather wise you could do shorts but what is most comfortable for all the stuff you plan to do in the park.

We were there a couple weeks ago and brought both shorts and pants. We ended up wearing shorts the whole time. One day (when it rained and was windy) it was pretty chilly. Part of it will depend on the time of day. Early morning, there's still a little bit of a chill in the air. It gets cool pretty quick in the evenings, too. During the day, walking around and spending time in the sun, shorts feel great.

I think you should bring both.....you will want shorts during the day and pants during the night! I am going on Thursday-Saturday and that is our plan. Shorts/t-shirt/sweatshirt for the morning and pants at night! Have fun! :)

Okay, given I am a So. Cal. native, but the idea of shorts right now...... BRRRR!

That said, it has been in the mid - upper 60s during the day (when not raining). In the evening it dips down into the high 40s - low/mid 50s.

Did I say, BRRRR! ?

I could not fathom shorts right now, but I know I am spoiled by the So. Cal. sun most of the year. Hopefully the temps will help you figure out what you would be comfortable in. Humidity isn't really an issue.

I know...I am pumped, I hope that weather is true...we are thinking Capri's and flip flops....Hi...I work in Gold River..right by you :)

I drive right by you then....I work in Rancho. I'm seeing so many more Dis'ers from Sac lately.

Yes, it will likely get in the low 70s, but that won't last long. After sunset the temperature drops quickly. Remember it is very dry here as well.

Last night at Disneyland there were only a handful of people wearing shorts. If you insist, bring your sweatshirts for the evenings. Personally, I'd bring both and plan on wearing light pants and layers on top.

JMHO! :)

Those were my thoughts exactly!

IMO, even if it is in the 70s it's not like it will be so hot that pants would be uncomfortable. It will probably be cold in the morning, especially if there is any fog and then it will be cold as soon as the sun starts going down so in my mind there are only a few possible hours of warmth and they'll probably have the AC going in all the indoor areas. Now, having said that, it's possible we could suddenly get another heat wave so maybe bringing a pair of shorts isn't a bad idea. If it were me, I would plan on wearing pants every day but bring a pair of shorts or capris in case I got desperate during a heat wave.

I am thinking capris for the girls oh oh and flip flops...! The rain in N. Cal is making us all crazy inside it will be fun to wear something "springy" soon!!!

We leave on Sat for a 5 day trip: one day driving on each end and 3 days plus Sat evening in the parks - we knew we'd be dying to get a Disney fix on the day we arrive, so we added the 4th day to our tickets! :cool1:

I've been watching the weather forcast, and so far the weekend looks good, but it's looking like we'll still get rain on the weekdays next week. Bummer...I'd really love some sunshine! But I've got a rain shield to put over DS's stroller, so I figure a little rain will clear out the park and we'll be good to go anyway. So we're packing pants, and I'll toss in one pair of capris and sandals and cross my fingers for a sunny day to wear them!

We were there a couple of weeks ago. First of all, we are from Kansas and it is COLD here right now. Then, we were in LA during the really warm times. It was mid 70's to about 86 while we were there. We did wear shorts some, but we found that about 4:30 in the afternoon the temps started dropping and it was really chilly during the evenings if you were wearing shorts. We found pants, a short sleeved shirt and a jacket worked best. We could remove the jacket during the day when it was warmer. Also, one day we got on SM and got pretty wet. WE WERE COLD and headed straight back to the hotel to change. It was the coolest day, but man it was cold when we were wet!!!! Didn't make that mistake again. Have a great time. It was our first trip to DL after 15 trips to WDW...we loved DL.
