I have a PS for the California Grill for 8:20 on 9/25 - my 48th birthday. I'm doing Epcot that day with my sisters. We'd rather not cut our Epcot time short to go back to the Poly to change clothes. Will we be out of place in park clothes - probably shorts that time of year?

We saw a little bit of everything there. However, I wore a "little black dress" with black high heels, pearls and the works. Shorts might be a little bit casual. However, I have only been there the one time and it was a special occasion.

I agree - I have seen it all there but usually change my park clothes because more people than not wear something a little nicer.

However, it is your birthday and if you do not want to waste time changing clothes - then I say don't bother!

Have a great time!:D

Sounds like we need to dress up a little. I'm thinking we bring our nicer stuff along and change in the bathroom at Epcot. That's what lockers are for! Thanks for your help.

We have went in park attire. They ask that you do not wear swim suits or tank tops. Other than that..you should be fine.
I would just wear my nicer short outfit that day.

seriously - don't bother.
no matter how you are drsesed, you'll see people dressed nicer and more casual then you. it really runs the gamut.

enjoy!

We ate there last Friday night late and saw absolutely everything! In general, the dress got a little nicer as the evening went on, but there were still people in shorts when I left at 10:30. Bottom line - if you're OK eating dinner in a nice place in shorts, don't change (we're in that category). With a late dinner reservation I'd taken the time to change, but would have been fine if I hadn't. But if you're just more comfortable being nicely dressed for dinner in a very nice atmosphere then take the time to change - I think it just depends on how you feel about these things.....

I would not worry about wearing shorts to the CG. We have dined there a minimum of 7 times there and have always seen folks, men and women wearing shorts. I would not worry about it, go and have fun.

I have to disagree...

I noticed when we were there that most people were dressed up. Not anything over the top but business casual for the men and sundresses for the ladies. It seemed that the people in park atire were a bit out of place that night.

I guess it really depends on you though. Like Plutopony said if you are comfortable in park clothes, go for it. I am one of those who like to go back to the room, shower and change into clean clothes before dinner.

Just my 2 cents :wave2:

My dbf has always worn nice khaki shorts and a polo type shirt to cali grill and he has fit in fine.

Tank tops are okay for women. They ask that men not wear them.

I visited 3 out of the past 7 nights in shorts.
Nobody seemed to look down at me.
I met a wedding party saturday night...and the groom
mentioned that he wished he could be in shorts.

We've always worn shorts at CG and NEVER EVER been a problem.
Don't feel you have to dress "up". IF you want to, by all means. BUt don't feel you have to--.

You don't need to change from shorts if you are comfortable wearing them to dinner. I personally like to shower before dinner because I am usually sweaty from the parks. It just adds to the enjoyment of my meal when I am clean and neat. Although, I also do this at home. I just don't feel comfortable eating dinner in shorts, partly because I am cold most of the time inside restaurants. But you don't need to change if wearing shorts to dinner doesn't bother you.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think we will bring nice clothes to Epcot and change if we feel like it. We only have Saturday and part of Sunday to enjoy the parks so I want to maximize our time there as much as possible.

panthergirl, I do not think that you will feel uncomfortable which way you go. We were there this past May and we saw the gamut of dress ranging from dressy to shorts. I had on a pr of capris and a nice t shirt, but the others in our party had on nice shorts and t shirts. Nobody will look down on you if you wear shorts, and your table or service will not change if you wear shorts. This is an upscale place for sure, but it is not Victoria and Alberts. Staff realize that folks are busy at the parks and they are just happy you are there. Folks wear tennis shoes as well because some of leaving CG to go back into the parks.

Honestly...in Sept you are going to sweat . Take the Monorail back to the Poly, shower and change and take the monorail to the Contemporary. This is one of WDW nicest restaurants, and Resort Casual is probably best.:D
