We are taking the May 10 5 day cruise, can we get by with just shorts for the whole cruise? I heard that things are more casual now for the shorter cruises but was not sure about Dinner attire

On the Panama Canal cruise we did there was a guy who wore pajamas all day everyday so I don't think shorts are that big of a deal.

You totally can just wear shorts unless, as already mentioned, you plan to go to Palo or Remy.

I would get cold in the indoors spaces if I were strictly in shorts. Even if I wear a dress to dinner (and I always do, while DH and DS wear khakis at the most casual) I have nylons on because I just get SO cold in the dining rooms and even the theater and bars.

You will not be turned away at a MDR for wearing shorts if that is what you are asking. Beyond that... o_O

I only take pants for Remy, Palo and Meridian. I do *not* wear anything but shorts the rest of the time.

I wear slacks to dinners (MDR and Palo).

Shorts the rest of the time.

BUT even I am frequently too cold in the Walt Disney Theater when wearing shorts - so I will wear my slacks / dockers there as well. "Late Night" in the clubs I will be back in my shorts.

Agree, sandles & socks look tacky, if shorts and sandles are exceptable for dinner other than Remy & Palo than I would plan on that, I've ordered tuxes twice and would be more comfortable in shorts

It's been a couple of years since we cruise on DCL, has the dress code for a 5 day cruise change to allow shorts in the MDRs?

I've never had a problem with shorts....I don't even mind the Daisy Duke cut-off shorts. I figure once you sit down, most people can't really see what you have on under the table anyway. Picture the new ankor with dress shirt, tie and sports coat sitting in his boxers.....you'd nevah know. :-)

Personally, I would bring shorts for every night except formal night. Throw in a pair of kakis for that night and you're golden.

Sure you can. On our Alaska cruise last year, I saw a guy who wore his cowboy hat all of the time. In the theater, in the MDR, in the lounges, in the hot tubs. You couldn't miss him with that cowboy hat.

Absolutely, as did Doc and Gopher. Julie only sometimes. Isaac always wore pants, for some reason.

Clearly, I paid too much attention to the Love Boat as a kid.

I can't resist, and I know I'm going off topic. This is one of our costuming groups. Love Boat, The Next Generation. More commonly known as Love Trek.

I'd throw in one pair of long pants...just for dinners and sometimes there are cold spots.
