Just thought I would post a quick review on our Sands of Kahana stay on Maui last week. (We're still in Hawaii - on Kauai right now).

We enjoyed our stay at Sands of Kahana. We had a one bedroom booked as a "getaway" through my mom and dad's Interval membership. The front desk at SOK told us their 1 bedrooms are on the 1st and 2nd floor (1st floor is actually like the 2nd floor as they have underground parking so 1st floor units are up one level). We asked for and received a 2nd floor one bedroom. The unit had a sliver of a view of the ocean through the palm trees, but we were close to the service area so we heard the occasional delivery truck. It was still a pretty view with all the trees and lush grounds, though. The unit was extremely clean. I saw no bugs at all - not even an ant. The range was the solid surface with a microwave above it. The kitchen was white tile with golden oak cabinets. I would classify the furnishings as clean and basic. Nothing fancy, but not dumpy either. The only negative to the place was no air-conditioning and this made them noisy in the bedroom (as the bedroom window faced the inner courtyard of rooms and the tile floors were noisy with people coming and going). The unit stayed cool for us though, as the trade winds never stopped blowing.

I would possibly consider SOK as a DVC trade, especially if I could get the 1 bedroom at the bottom of the point requirement (isn't it like 121 points or something in low season?). All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Sands of Kahana. It's not the Marriott or the Westin, but it was clean and let me tell you, if you read my other review of Hanalei Bay on Kauai, you'll know how much I appreciated Sands of Kahana being clean :teeth:

Thanks for the report - I value clean, critter-free accomodations, too. :teeth:

Best wishes -

We just got back from Maui last month. We went on a cash basis and didn't use points but I appreciate your review. Were there any units that were ocean front??
