Short on points....where to stay for 1st night.

Hello friends....
Just a short question. We are planning an Easter trip next year. I am planning on booking at BWV at the 11 month window. In the event that I can't get a standard view, I will be short by some points. I don't want to rent any...too much of a hassle since we won't arrive until 11:00 at night anyway...so does anyone know of an inexpensive and convenient hotel? We just need a clean place to sleep before heading to BWV in the morning. Thanks..

Now through June 30, Marriott has a deal with American Express, spend two seperate nights or stays and pay with an American Express card and you get a free night. If you have any travel for work, this might be a good deal. If you are flying in, you can stay at the Marriott @ the the Airport, nightly rate is 129.00 per night. Use your coupon and its free. I'll be doing this next month.

Disney on the Bayou,

Can you tell me where you can find this reward on-line or if there is a phone # to call? This offer seems to be better than the one that I know of which is to have 3 marriott 'stays" (not nights, need 3 separate confirmations) and you get 2 weekends for free. The 3 stays have to be before 6/15. This amex deal sounds better if you can have the "Nights" rather than "stays". Thanks

When we arrive after 9 PM I usually go to Priceline.com and get a room. By the time we get to the hotel, it is about 10:30 Pm and we get up early to head overrr to OKW!!! I have paid anywhere from $40-$75 for one night!!

Personally, we have taken advantage of some of the deals at the Swan and Dolphin for that first nights stay, and it is wonderful to arrive to the "Magic" the first night at a reasonable price, and not a non-Disney hotel. I think our rate was $129, and well worth it. The staff is very friendly and seems to have the Disney touch, even though they are not Disney owned. There are some great restaraunts and amenities there to check out as well. Then it's just a short walk across the bridge to your new home. It might be worth considering, we loved it and liked not missing a day in a hotel outside the world. We tried that once, and much prefered the Dolphin when the price is right. Good luck.

I usually get to WDW a night or two before our points start at BW. I use the theory of treating ourselves at a deluxe for a night or two. Last year, we stayed at AK for one night before moving to a 1 bedroom at BW. AK was fabulous, even if it didn't have a hot tub, a kitchen and all that room.

I never really got into the theory of paying a cheap rate at some off site hotel. This year we have two nights booked at WL, before our week starts at BW.

I guess I'm lucky, I've never stayed at WL, Poly, GF. So when I stay, it is a real treat.

Arriving so late at night, the most convenient hotel is the Hyatt that's right inside the Orlando International Airport terminal. You'll get to sleep much sooner than if you first need to rent a car and drive to WDW.

There are a bunch of other hotels just north of Orlando International Airport. Most of the major chains are represented. If it's a weekend night (usually Friday or Saturday night), you'll often find reduced rates on first class hotels.

People of the DIS boards have reported getting good rates using http://www.priceline.com -- but using Priceline advantageously is a skill that requires some research. And if you can't cancel if your plans change (such as if you are able to switch to standard view at BWV and you no longer need the night booked through Priceline).

Hyatt's "Faster Free Nights with American Express" that "Disney On The Bayou" wrote about won't do you any good in Spring 2003. The deal is, "Get unlimited free nights! You can get a free night after every 2 stays April 15 - July 31, 2002, when you pay with your American Express® Card." So this promotion will be long over by the time you travel.

I didn't do a good job explaining... Because of work travel during that time period. I'm going to have 1 night free stay to use over the next 12 months. So if LoriB is in the same boat she could try that method. I agree with you that staying at the airport Hyatt is the best ay to go after a late evening flight, even if its a little more expensive.

Alas, you have to redeem your award(s) between May 1 and September 30, 2002 -- not any time "over the next 12 months." So the award won't be valid in Spring 2003.

We went in April to BWV and we arrived a day early so we stayed at an Econoldge right outside the park on Route 192. It was only a 10 minute ride to BWV the next day. We paid $39 for the night but any of those hotels in that area are very inexpensive.

LoriB- we are in the same boat as you - we decided to stay at the Radisson Resort Parkway for $63.10 a night through hotel kingdom.com. Mousesavers.com and the Orlando Area Attractions board on this site all have very positive things to say about it (some have compared the rooms to Disney deluxe resorts). It's 1.5 miles away from TTC. We are staying the night of May 18 before checking into OKW the next day so I can give you a better report then. We are getting in late also and did not want to pay a lot of money to sleep & shower, and this resort seemed like the best value.
