Short notice trip??!!

What are the chances of booking a studio on about one weeks notice during the summer? My wife and I may try and sneek down to the world sometime, for a long weekend, this summer if the kids are away at the same time. We probably wouldn't know more than two weeks out.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

WE were once able to add a day last minute to our August trip, but I know that isn't the worst time of the summer.

I booked about six weeks ahead for July this year and I had a choice of a one bedroom at BWV or a two bedroom at OKW. The points were the same for either choice. After talking to my DD's I went with the OKW ressie. The added plus of having two bathrooms means we can get ready faster, and that is a consideration with two teen DD's. Plus a friend is joining me later that week, so the two bedroom seemed the best way to go.

I think if you are flexible on which Resort, you have a good chance of getting something last minute in the summer.

I think you have a VERY good shot at it... Last September we stayed at the BWV's on 30 minutes notice... I'm not kidding, we got to the airport & our flight was cancelled.. I called the BW immediately & was given the choice of a standard or preferred studio!! We drove back to the BW & rescheduled our flight for the next day! If you are only planning for 2 or 3 nights, I'd be pretty confident you could get it......

I'd give a shot. Last week we were scheduled for checkout at BWV on Thursday. I really wasn't "vacationed out" so I asked if they had anything (2 BDRM) available with Saturday checkout. They found us a 2 bdrm at OKW. This was on less than one day notice! It was bout 7 PM on Wednesday and I wanted in for the next day. Memeber Services was closed already, so the folks at the desk handled it for me. The room at OKW was even ready at 11 AM the next morning when we checked out of BWV and went over and checked in at OKW.

It all depends on timing and what you want. On Sunday my DW said that she and my DD decided they wanted to go to WDW. My DD (17) has said all year she did not want to go now she has come to her senses and said never listen to her again when she says this. We had an offer for four days three nights for another timeshare (see my thread on Celebrations Timeshare) and wanted to go June 17, 18, and 19. I called MS June 3 and asked for a one bdrm at OKW for June 20, 21,and 22 and had no problem. They did say there were only two left, counting the one I took.

Since I'm not a member yet, I'm just curious about making the reservations. When you call, especially on short notice, do you ask what's available or do you ask for one location and then they tell you no but here's what is available? I guess what I'm really asking is how helpful are they when you call in giving you other options?
