Short 3 points help..

We are booking our vacation this Nov for Oct of next year we are staying 5 days and I am short 3 points . I guess my questions is can I book 4 nights and wait list for the other night and at the 7 month window buy the 3 points I would need? would wait listing that early give me an advantage? or should I try to transfer points in? We are staying at the BCV since that is our home resort

You can purchase one-time-use pts from Disney at time of reservation at the 7 months mark.

One-time-use vacation points are vacation points available for Disney Vacation Club Members to use as an alternative to borrowing vacation points from the following use year's allotment.
You can obtain a maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points once per use year per membership.
A maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points are processed in a single transaction, not multiple transactions.
The fee for one-time-use vacation points is $15 (including tax) per vacation point, and is subject to change.

We have bought point from DVC a couple times and it was easy. It might've hard to buy just 3 points from someone.

You can't waitlist with purchased points, they can only be purchased to make an actual reservation. Can you borrow?

Sounds like you want to waitlist it to hold your spot between months 11-7? Then when the 7 months mark is available, buy the 3 points and reserve the room? I don't think that is possible though, there's no way of knowing when a waitlist will be fulfilled. I would say the easiest way, if you can't borrow, rent or transfer from someone with the same home resort. But the 3 points is your only transfer that UY.

You can only waitlist a reservation because you have the points to book it but it isn't available. You can't put a hold on a night until you get the points at seven months out. You need a transfer from another member if you can't borrow your own points.
