Last time we were in Nassau we didn't even have kids, so we went to the casino at Atlantis. :) Not really able to do that this time around!

Our itinerary takes us to Castaway Cay first, then Nassau, then Key West. We're going to try like mad to get a cabana at CC. If not, we'll just find some loungers and enjoy a beach day. In Key West, we're not looking to do much...probably hit the aquarium (we're with another family) and then enjoy some time on a (hopefully) not so crowded ship.

But for Nassau I'm at a loss. I'm thinking a day at the beach maybe, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg. It'll be myself, hubs and 5 year old son. Possible ideas are glass-bottom boat tour, chocolate factory, dolphin sighting, or beach day. Or even just get off the boat, walk around and back on. Any ideas? Our son doesn't even like petting zoos, so any animal interaction is out of the question.

We just got back from cruise and I would recommend the Dolphin swim (Dolphin Cay) @ Nassau if you have young kids...To my surprise Disney sets up transportation for it as well as I had no idea they did this... have a 5 and 3 year old and they loved it! Plus the trainer we had let us do anything we wanted pretty much even what was supposed to be more expensive...My son got to hold onto the fin and ride with the dolphin....Glass Bottom tour boat got cancelled for my parents and have heard its not worth it as the weather and water have to be near perfect to even see anything, so just use caution for that one, hope this helps..

He doesn't like close interaction with live animals. Zoos are fine because there's a barrier, so to speak. He won't even go into a petting zoo, so I'm afraid the dolphin swim is out of the question, at least for now. My husband and I have done a sea lion interaction excursion and it was so much fun. But I really don't want to force my child into doing something that will terrify him!

Hi - We just cruised two weeks ago - first day at CC. We ran the 5k, then spent the entire day at the beach - so much fun! We really loved the island. As for Nassau - we strolled over to the Straw Market and headed back to the ship. There are lots of activities during the day and nice to have a just a few other folks at the pool. I wouldn't venture too far while in Nassau, it is not the safest area....Have a blast!

We did the chocolate making excursion/chocolate factory in Nassau. My three kids loved it - a highlight from the whole cruise. It was mainly learning how chocolate is made, then we made our own chocolates to take home. It was a nice way to get off the ship, doing something different, and the kids were entertained!

In Nassau I did the glass bottom boat with my sons 9 & 13. We enjoyed it. We were back in plenty of time to walk around the port but decided to go back on the boat.

Following! ! We have 6 and yr old girls and trying to figure out what to do in Nassau. But we're only there like 7 am to noon I think!

Thanks everyone! I'm leaning toward the chocolate tour (my husband is actually interested in this too!) or the glass bottom boat, then back to the ship!

Wife and I booked Tru Bahamian Food Tour privately, which we really enjoyed. Not sure that's for you with your 5 yr old. Nice walk around downtown Nassau with guide that fills you in on the history as well as taking you to sample food at multiple local eateries.
