We are flying out of Syracuse for the first time this September, and would like to know if there is a decent place for lunch (table service, a chain restaurant is fine) and maybe a bit of shopping before our flight. We fly out at 4:20 and figure we will be in Syracuse around noon - 1:00. Thanks:goodvibes

Hello fellow Kingstonian! My daughter and I took this same Jet Blue flight out of Syracuse in May. We went to the Carousel Mall which is just down the I81 about 10 minutes from the airport exit. Google the mall website to see if it looks like the stores appeal to you, it has almost everything you could want and then some. There is a large food court as well. We were there at opening right at 10 am, and left the mall at 2, parked in the airport covered parking and were all checked in and through security and sitting at the gate by 3. With small children of course it will take you a little longer but that gives you a bit of an idea of timing. As well as great flight prices :cool1:, the airport is passenger friendly and so quick and easy compared to Pearson or even Ottawa. The border crossing was a breeze without anyone in line in front of us.:woohoo: Have a great trip!

Given you don't have a lot of time, I would vote for Carousel Centre as well. There's a decent chain restaurant right in the mall, Ruby Tuesday's, and also a large food court. If you were going a day early to shop, I'd recommend the Waterloo Premium Outlets, which are about 40 minutes west of Syracuse, or shop in Orlando - there are great outlet malls there as well.

I couldn't agree more about Dinosaur BBQ!! The place is fantastic. It gets very busy but probably not too bad at lunch time.

This place sounds great. I have also checked out the mall-also great.
We will be in Syracues for a couple of nights during the NY state fair to see the Justin Bieter concert:eek:. Looking for stuff for DH,DS and my friend's DH to do while we are at the concert--for some reason, they didn't wantto attend:scared1:

Thanks for the info, I googled the mall, I think this is where we will go. This is going to be a "no kids" trip, I'm very excited about it. I'd like to hit the outlets in Orlando too, we've never been, but we are only going from Sun to Fri (4 full days) so not enough time. A short trip to this mall (which has a Disney Store btw;) ) prior to our flight will be perfect!!
