Our flight doesn't leave till 5 or so when we come back from our cruise.

We are thinking about: NASA, Downtown Disney, or shopping!

Didn't someone talk about some discount or outlet stores for Disney stuff? Where is it located? Are the prices really that good, is the stuff worth buying?

What specifically would you recommend for Downtown Disney? Do you think we'll be Disneyed out?

thanks!

There are some stores in the Orlando Outlet malls called "Character Warehouse" I think there are two or three of these stores. They are Disney owned and sell discounted/discontinued WDW stuff. I am not sure how to get there because I am never the one to drive - but that is what they are called and we have bought some really great stuff there cheap.

From your question I would suggest going to Downtown Disney and after or before on the opposite side of Interstate 4 are the Premium Outlets with a great Warehouse Disney Store.

If you really like shopping, and are not only after Disney stuff the Millineum Mall is something to see. It's a stunning place, touted for only having the upper crust stores. However, I think they have a little bit for everyones taste.
You will pass the Florida Mall on the way into Orlando right pass the Airport. Both are very easy to find...and great shopping places.

Good Luck and Happy Shopping. Orlando is great place, especially if you know where to go......

I've asked this question before too. Just to clarify, disneystyle, the store at Premium Outlets you referred to sells WDW parks merchandise, not just Disney Store merchandise, correct?

On our last trip, we visited an outlet store that we thought carried "real" WDW merchandise, but found only Disney Store merchandise, which is fine, but we can find that here at home.

Through sheer luck, we stumbled across an outlet with a store that sold merchandise that is sold only in the parks. It was an outdoor mall, something you don't see a lot of here in Minnesota, and on our receipt, which we just dug out yesterday, it says LBV (Lake Buena Vista?).

Do you think we were at the store you've mentioned?

The Premium Outlets are outdoors. I am pretty sure it is merchadise from the parks. I just tried calling for you and did not get through. But, below is the found number and little snippit of information. Good Luck, Blountstyle.

The closest Disney Outlet to WDW is located at the Orlando Premium Outlet Mall near Little Lake Bryant. The name of this store is the Character Premiere Store. The mall is just off I-4 very near the Downtown Disney Resort area. This is a very nice outlet mall with 110 stores. The companies represented there include Disney, Universal Orlando, Mikasa, Le Creuset, Calvin Klein, Barney's New York, Jones New York, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Anne Klein, Banana Republic, Adidas, Reebocks, Dooney & Burke, Cole Hahn, and many more. It is a very unusual mall in that it is actually outdoors, but with canopies over the walk-ways to protect shoppers from the rain.

Thanks for all the info. You're right, I wouldn't want things sold in Disney stores only, we can get that in our own mall, I would like different things.

Are these the same outlets as the Belz outlets I've heard of? Or are those something different?

These are different from the Belz outlets.

But guess what, Belz is right down the road, right before the Millennia Mall and close to Wet n Wild and Universal...

So little time and so much to shop!!!!!

Thanks for the detailed description disneystyle! I'm pretty sure this is the mall I'm looking for. I'll use the number you provided and confirm.

The only stores I know for sure I shopped at are WDW store and the Nike store.

What kind of WDW stuff do they have at these stores? We are going to Disney for X-mas and it would be nice to do some shopping, maybe at these stores. Do they also care DCL stuff? We go on our FIRST cruise in Feb. and can't wait to get there!!!
Thanks, Joni :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I think it is mostly merchandise they have recently discontinued or have overstocked in the parks.

We were there in Oct/Nov of 2000 and found a lot of the millenium celebration merchandise (t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts, caps, etc...), I suppose since it was getting close to the end of the celebration. The kids got beanies (hitch-hiking ghosts from Haunted Mansion) and a few other toys/souvenirs for about one third the price they were in the parks.

We were definitely able to stretch our souvenir dollar on that visit!

Thanks for the info!! We will try it at X-mas time and see what they have. Joni :bounce: :Pinkbounc

We shop the outlets every trip at least once sometimes twice.
Starting from North to South: At the Belz Mall there are 2 Disney outlets Character Warehouse in Mall 2 and Charater Premiere in Mall 1. Belz is located on International Drive (I-Drive) off I4 north of Wet 'N Wild. The best route (depending on traffic) is to take I 4 to the exit for Universal and Wet 'n wild. After you leave Belz go south on I-Drive pass the Bee line. (A quicker route is to take Universal Blvd south and by pass all the worst of the I Drive traffic it comes out near the convention center and the Pointe Orlando shopping/entertainment area.) Continuning south on I Drive you go under the Bee Line (528) and pass Sea World. The Orlando Premium Outlets are on your right about 2 miles further. There is a large new Publix there also. In the Orlando Premium Outlets there is a Character Premiere.
Back onto I Drive goitn south you will come to an entrance for 417 (Florida Greenway) Bear right don't go onto 417. At the next light turn left onto 525. About 1 mile on your left are the Lake Buena Vista Outets. Here the Disney store is smaller. There is also a VF outlet great for swim suits, jeans etc.
Nancy Outletes are the way to shop!

Thanks Nancy! I will print this Directions out so when we go I will have them to fallow. Joni:bounce: :Pinkbounc

You may also want to hit the Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach. It's about 10/15 minutes away from Port Canaveral.

Once we discovered it, it's become a mandatory stop for our teen.
