We are taking a split vacation this time around...We are a family of 5 :firefight :surfweb: :wizard: princess: :earsboy: going to WDW from 11/29-12/3 (POR) :woohoo: , Wonder Cruise 12/3-12/7 :woohoo: , then back to WDW 12/7-12/11 (SOG) :woohoo: . We prefer not to have to drive ourselves at all, as we enjoy our vacation moreso when we don't have to worry about finding our way around. Therefore, we have always hired a towncar service :car: and used Disney buses..This has always worked out very well.

Since we are splitting our trip up so much this time, we are needing more car services. I am looking at it as two roundtrips...One to/from MCO and the other, to/from DCL/Resorts. Have received price quotes going from $400 on up from various businesses in Orlando for using the same company for the entire trip. (We have budgeted in the area of $400.)

My question is that I wonder if anyone has ever used two different car services during a trip? I am tempted to try a new highly recommended company for the MCO part and then go back to a company we have been happy with before for the DCL part of our vacation. Not sure if this would be a smart idea or not? The pricing breakdowns will save us about $50 after paying tip if we chose two companies. Worth the trouble of making two reservations or use the same company for the entire trip? Any advice/suggestions would be happily appreciated! Thanks DISers!! :wave2:

I haven't used two different companies on one trip before, but I wouldn't consider it unusual. Do you feel comfortable with the other company you are thinking of using? If so, I'd give them a try.

You could find good companies for less than $400.00 for an MCO-WDW-DC-DC -WDW trip utilizing one company. If you utilize the ME for MCO to Disney and WDW to MCO, you would only have to pay a car service for the transfer to the cruise lines from Disney and return to Disney. In that case you could save yourself well over $100.00. In most cases transfer to DCL from WDW and than DCL back to WDW would cost less than $300.00.

I hope I haven't missed something, but I am sure you can ride the ME at the beginning and the end of that vacation. If you can't ride ME from Shades of Green than just add another $55.00 to the above figure.

You are pretty close Edd. The only thing is the SOG does not get ME service. So they would be looking at DW-->DCL and DCL-->DW, then DW to MCO.

Duds,

I wasn't sure about Shades of Green. That is why I added the $55.00 back to MCO on the tail end of the post.

BTW: I just checked transportation for 5 persons from MCO to the Port. 2 adults and 3 children. The price stated $345.00. Is that right, or did I miss something? You can get transportation from the car service industry for around $200.00 for up to about 8 or 10 persons. This includes family privacy, 45 minute drive to the port and luggage can be transferred by Disney to the ship. Yes, there have been several families who have taken car service to the Port and luggage was delivered by Disny to the ship. You just have to carry it off the ship with you.

Could you elaborate as to where you found this service offered for $200 or so? Your previous checking and finding $345 or more IS accurate according to my shopping for prices with a towncar service. PM me should you have any furtehr information to offer...Thanks so much! (P.S. This is still mommyrom, just signed on the DIS under DH login...Thanks!)

The $345.00 is the Disney price for 5 in a family, on a bus, to the port. This is taken from the Disney Cruise Line site. Let me know if I am wrong.
