Shopping & Fantasmic
Slight mutiny from the troops today Blizzard Beach was on the itinerary but they wanted to go shopping and have a lie-in. As I had had my own way for the last 4 or 5 days I had to submit to their wishes. After all shopping could be fun

One slight problem, our trusty steed the golf cart would not take us there. (Although if it had been at all legal we would have loved to have cruised along the motorways in it).
Husband announced "we are on holiday so lets take a taxi"

We then spent the day being taxied around by Rueben who was the nicest person you could hope to meet. Don't ask how much it all was as he took us to 2 shopping areas as the malls don't open till 11. Coffe in a very busy Denny's where it seemed everyone was having the most delicious looking pancakes for brunch. We spent some hours in the Florida Mall which was very interesting. Bought some trainers(sneakers) and got one pair for half-price and of course they were loads cheaper than the U.K. anyway. Reality crept in a little over lunch, we were thinking how much we had saved on the footwear and then how much the taxi had cost. So we asked Rueben to drop us off at Downtown Disney on the way back to save on the return fare. As we joined the motorway the rain came down very heavily and the traffic began to crawl along. Rueben said "You guys are great" and he turned off the clock and took us right back to FW for what we had paid on the way there. The rain was torrential and this was no time to worry about saving some dollars. We would not do this at home but as the man said we were on holiday. We had saved some money by not having a rental car for the first week too.

The plans for the evening were Fantasmic so we were very glad when the rain slowed down and stopped as we made our way to MGM and dinner at Mama Melrose's. We had chosen to do the meal package and it had been a close run thing with the Brown Derby or Mama Melrose and this was the only meal where I think I made the wrong choice. I chose the 4 cheese flatbread and one of the cheeses was so pungent that I couldn't eat it. The waitress was very quick to replace it with a plain one so perhaps I'm not the only one this has happened too. Everyone else's meal was ok but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere was a little flat too but after our lovely meal at Boma perhaps we had been spoiled.

We had some time before the show so managed to fit in a couple of shows and look around the shops. RNRC was still busy so that was still not sampled.

We got very good seats for Fantasmic, as near the middle section as the ropes would allow, in the middle rows. The crowd was very happy and some groups of young people started the mexican waves which passed some of the waiting time very enjoyably. Flashing Mickey's and all sorts of goodies were being sold so the waiting time went quickly. There was such a carnival atmosphere and sense of anticipation in the air. Children's eyes were round with excitement, especially as it started to go dark and the first strains of music wafted through the night.

Fantasmic was excellent. The ripple that goes through the crowd whenever Mickey appears gives me goosebumps. I enjoyed seeing some of the Disney villains during the show, they have such character.

We really enjoyed Fantasmic as well; it must be one of the best shows in Orlando.

Have to agree - Shopping and Fantasmic! What more could you want? LOL
