Case solved:

Load your bags and kids in the vehicle. Position your cart so that your can push the cart to the corral using your vehicle as you drive off. You don't need to worry about leaving your kids for a second and only your vehicle gets scratched and dinged. It's a win win situation...... :teeth:

as I stated, you had a clear path back to the store so why not take the cart back there...??

I was no where near the store. I suppose I could have, though, and while I was at it, I could have taken the dozen carts that were piled up all over the upper parking area. Does that really make any sense? And like I already stated, it was a cart that I'd "rescued" from the main parking lot (not too far from a cart corral) that I'm hardly going to lose sleep over it.

And actually it would be my DH losing sleep since he was the one with the cart, and trust me, he won't lose sleep over it. He has slept through a LOT more than this!!! :rotfl2:

Mickey88, one other thing that I was thinking of, why go after me who has said that they DO bring their carts back? :rotfl: You're preaching to the choir since I don't think that I can think of even one example of a time that I personally didn't and my guess is that this is the only time that my DH didn't (even though since we were together and live in a joint property state you could say I was half responsible ;) ).

I'm not going after you, I've questioned or commented on other people's posts also

Ok can someone please explain the kid-excuse to me? I have two young girls and have gone shopping with just them since they were itty-bitty babies. I never left them in the car and I always returned my cart even if I had to return to the store. I mean maybe I am missing something here.
Step 1: Walk in to store with kid/s and grab cart
Step 2: shop and pay with kid/s
Step 3: take cart and kid/s to car and unload
Step 4: take cart and kid/s to corral or back in to store
Step 5: walk back to car with kid/s

I mean if you can do step 1 then steps 4 and 5 should not be a problem. I always did all steps even while having both kids with just me. I mean I could maybe see a problem if it was snowing heavily or raining, but under normal circumstances there really isn't any excuse.

There is a flaw in this plan if the weather doesn't cooperate. You (or at least I) do not leave a baby sitting out in the snow/cold/rain/wind while I unload my car (normally many many bags.) I put them in the car safely, unload the cart. If there is a cart carol near by I put it in there. Sometimes I give it to people walking by that need a cart. Some stores I shop at does not have them. If I have to leave my kids and walk a distance that I do not feel comfortable with I do not return it. I will make sure it is sercurly resting so it will not fly away (often hopping it over curb so it won't run.)

Sorry my kids take president over carts or cars. If it is nice I will walk it back with the child. It isn't the walk I mind. Oh and what about those heavy baby car seat carriers. I pray I get a cart right when I get out of my car so I don't have to carry that baby carrier so far. I will park next to stray carts if i can and bring them in.

If DH or my niece is with me one of us will take it back, but hoensly when do I have that many people at the store, not that often.

I had a job in high school as a bagger. They pay people to bring the carts in, I know I did it (all 5 feet and 85 pounds of me, back in H.S that was.)

I have also personally ran across a parking lot and caught a run away cart in a major wind storm and saved somebody elses car. I figure I have Karma on my side for that. Also while I care about my car, not that much really. I car more about my kids. (not saying that others don't, just my opinion.) :teeth:

if you went over the curb and thru grassy area with stuff in the cart why not with an empty cart, if you didn't then you clearly had a clear path back to the store with the cart.....
s
story doesn't add up.... :confused3 :confused3

Her post was very detailed - why on earth would Tig make something like that up? Give me a break! Maybe she was was just being lazy - we're all entitled every now and then - but there's no reason to accuse her of lying about something so ridiculously petty. :stir:

No kidding! It is scary that some could get so nasty about a trivial subject. I always thought people were kidding when they said this was a big issue on the DIS.

I never accused anyone of lying

just stated the fact that the story didn't add up..

the story didn't make sense until she elaborated, if she had a clear path to the car, common sense would tell you there was also a clear path away from the car unless, they planted the grass and installed curbs while she was unloading the car..
she explained herself quite well, but if you feel the need to defensd another adult, go for it...

and as far as everyone having the right to be lazy, at home perhaps, but not when it can cause expensive damage to other people's property.

I guess I was brought up differently I was taught to do the right thing, whether anyone was watching or not, and whether it was easy or convenient or not...

I would hardly call pointing out facts as getting nasty

As a matter of fact, there is no way where I put my cart that it could have cause damage, that is unless the laws of gravity have been somehow changed since I went to school (yep, it's been awhile...). And yes, I was taught about respecting the belongings of others...

Like I mentioned, there were LOTS of other carts in the upper level where we were parked, so it was not going to cause the workers to make a special trip. As a matter of fact, there were enough carts that they would have to bring one of the special cart pushers (I know there much be a name for them, but you have probably seen the big things that some of the stores have to help the worker bring the carts in from the parking lot).

When my DH was going to put our cart with others, he was first going to put it with several carts, but it would have been up a slight incline and I pointed to some other carts, which were leaning against a curb and there was nowhere for those carts to go. And that part of the parking lot is not busy (and now I know why since there is no cart corral :rotfl: ).

BTW, this is only the second time I've parked in this part of the Sam's parking lot and the first time we were not buying anything, just stopping by to see if they had a certain product, which is why we didn't know that they didn't have the corral up there. I'm a business member and usually go before regular store hours and can park close to the door so haven't been faced with this.

You would think that the store would put in a corral if there aren't enough. IE, in the Super Wal-Marts that people have described that only have 2 corrals. I don't get that. Sure, some people will return the cart no matter what, but they should try to make it was easy as reasonably possible so that the people who are "borderline returners" will return them.

Why on earth would anyone have the need to "nail" another MB memeber over their shopping cart etiquette. Freaky.

was that your favorite excuse as a teenager...."everyone else was doing it....."

I didn't nail anyone, just pointed out a discrepancy in the story,

on the other hand, it appears I'm being nailed/attacked from several people...

I didn't realize anyone on here was above reproach...

sorry...
