You have got to download this app before your trip! Our luggage was already at weight limit coming here, so I was nervous about making purchases. With the app, we can go in a store, enter the bar code, and add items to our cart. Before we leave on Monday, we will place our order. Our box of souvenirs will arrive home in about a week. Perfect! The app even applied our DVC/AP discount because it's linked to MDE. We will have to pay shipping, but it's cheaper than paying for another suitcase. This app is great!

I like it for shopping before I go as well. Now I don't have to wait until I've been to all four parks to see what's available. I can look at what's available, make up my mind about any large purchases (and know where to find them) and can plan my souvenir budget a little better. I agree it's a great app.

I'm surprised they came out with the App because it gives me the ability to think about the purchase before I buy it. I no longer am concerned that if I don't buy something before my trip is over than I won't be able to get it.

I thought this App sounded like a good idea until I checked out the reviews. Many people are reporting multiple problems with the App. Among them are that the App is difficult to use, it dumps your items and that they are being sent on wild goose chases when the App reports that an item is available at a certain location in the park and they go there and the item is in fact unavailable.

The general consensus is that the idea of the App is good but Disney's execution of it is lacking. These days with all the tech support issues that Disney is experiencing that is not really a shocker.

So before you invest your time and energy into using this App be aware that it is problematic and not ready for prime time.

I loved the app on our trip last week. It would not hold a cart, so I had to buy items one at at time, and there were also the shipping costs to consider, but it was so nice to not have to worry about packing bigger things and to not have to stand in check out lines in the store. It has also been fun this week to have packages showing up at home about every day. As far as trying to wait until you get home, be aware that for many of the items, you have to be standing inside the store to purchase. There was one item I decided to order when I was back at the resort and it would not let me, I had to wait until I got back in a store that had it to order it. There are some things you can buy at home on the app, but not everything. It was also great when the store at Imagination was out of a Figment shirt in the size I needed, just jumped on the app in the store and was easily able to order it in the right size. We bought more than we would have without the app because we didn't say, oh that is too big to cart home and we don't want to mess with filling out the paperwork and time to have it shipped-a couple of clicks and it was on its way! I also did use it to locate an item a friend was looking for and it worked- but as fast as things sell at WDW, I could definitely see an item no longer being available where it indicated if you didn't get there close in time to checking the app. Loved it!

So far, I haven't had any issues with them not having in the store what the app said they would, although I did have to search diligently for a couple items. But I can certainly believe it could happen. Imagine if they would have had this app back when Frozen first came out and people were practically trampling on each other to get merchandise (and those dresses!) - I don't think there's any way an app could have stayed ahead of the inventory as it was flying off the shelves.

Yes. I spoke with a helpful managerial-type CM at MouseGear on Friday and he explained that the app just looks at inventory counts everywhere and reports availability based on those. He could see those actual counts and warned that in practice if the system's number is low, the app may show "in stock" but in practice the item is already gone. He located a large number of what I was looking for at only one store in WDW in a park I wasn't going to, even though the app showed stock in a half-dozen other spots. He advised I go to the location he saw the large inventory at if I really wanted it. His advice was spot on--that store had them, none of the 3 or 4 others I checked did.

I think reviews are so relative sometimes, especially as far as apps being easy to use and what not. For example, apps that I've found incredibly easy and user friendly, members of my family have zero clue when it comes to figuring out anything technical whatsoever and when I've tried to teach them, it's practically impossible. Everyone's different, ya know?

Inventory systems are SO difficult and even more so when you think about hundreds of stores and thousands of people with even more products. For example, if a store shows they have 3 of a certain item, 2 Guests could be walking around the store with that item in their hands as they're shopping. Then, right before you arrive at said store, another Guest could come in and buy that last one. You could choose to blame that on Disney's execution of the app, but I don't really think that's a fair argument. There are so many scenarios that could happen . . . maybe a kid knocked a snow globe off of a shelf and they can't take it out of inventory because no one actually purchased it - the possibilities are endless really.

That is the very best advice you could've been given!

I think it's very smart of Disney not to put the exact number of items they happen to have 'in stock' at a certain location because it seems like the more info like this that we get access to, the more mad "we" all get when it's not 100%, spot-on accurate. Best Buy comes to mind right now because I have placed orders online with them for an in-store pickup for something that shows 'in stock' but in between me placing the order and the order actually getting to the store, someone happened to be walking around with the thing in their cart and I was sent an email saying it was on back order - happens all the time.

We all buy too much stuff! :rolleyes1
