shoes

Has anyone heard of TOMS Shoes?

I have a pair and they're the ones that I'm considering wearing when I'm in DL.

Do you guys think that they're good shoes for walking around all day?

I've found that flip-flops make my feet sore and dirty and I absolutely HATE tennis shoes...so I feel like TOMS are my only option

I have a pair of toms and i love them! I haven't used them for long distance walking though. I think it really depends on your foot. Since they are pretty flat they don't have that much needed arch support. I'm sure for a day though they would probably be ok..

Sore feet is annoying ..but the one thing i can't take is your shoe rubbing against the back of your heel! I had that once..my socks kept slipping down. It was torture! I made sure to wear better socks the next day ..but it still hurt a little from the day before!! ouch

I wore 'onitsuka tigers' and 'converse high tops' for three days in a row and had no problems. I have dodgey knees and thought I'd struggle big time but didn't have enough space in my luggage to bring my running shoes which I wear orthotics in. I did however tape my knees as I am supposed to do when playing sport for two of the days and they were fine, but they didn't hurt the day I didn't tape them either. My mum wore sneakers/sandshoes and she had no issues and my dad wore men's strap sandal type shoes.

But really, as everyone has probably said, whatever is most comfortable to walk multiple km/miles in as it's a LONG day!

You mean to tell me that I am the only women that wears her Jimmy Choo pumps to DL????? Just kidding-- Puma sneakers or flops for me!!!!

I just got a pair of Ryka shoes. I liked another expensive Ryka but not the bright green colors so I ordered the sportwalker. The fit is good. Trying them out today before we head to DL tomorrow. I also love wearing my Crocs. I have the Malindi style. Just realized the model name is very close to my real name: Malinda. DO not wear them in the rain. I did not pack any other shoes and fell twice in Disneyland. I could not go out and but a pair of shoes before we went in. I wear a size 11 and am also allergic to leather. :headache:

My Crocs just arrived yesterday. Ugly, but comfy! I'm also breaking in a pair of Keen's right now as I type. Although, they really don't need any breaking in. Very comfortable! Between the two, I think I'll be all set for our next trip!

I actually did a little bit of shoe shopping yesterday and tried on some Asics. They felt okay, except for some excess rubbing on my achilles tendons, but I assume that goes away after they're broken in. I was also intrigued by some Nike Lunarfly+2 shoes that I tried on. My only problem is that it's so hard for me to find good shoes because most of them feel fine at first, but after I've been walking in them a while, I start to feel pain in my heels. It's just so hard to tell what shoes will be perfect for my needs if I only wear them and walk around in them for a few minutes in the store. I wish running shoes weren't so expensive! Then it might not matter if they didn't work out, so long as I could find other ones. :sad1:

I was not aware that calf/foot/toe stretches would reduce foot pain. Is there a source where some helpful exercises can be found? Thank you for your help! :thumbsup2

Because you stand on your feet a lot, it's likely your heel pain is caused by the shortening of your calf muscles and the overuse of the foot muscles and tendons supporting your arch. This is just speculation, of course, without an examination by a trained professional, which you should have one at this stage in your foot issues to prevent further injury. ;)

These stretches are good for foot health, even if you don't have classic plantar fasciitis symptoms.

Believe me, I definitely would have gone to the doctor by now. The problem is that I have no health insurance. I've been without it since I started college because I can't afford it. However, I will go as soon as I pursue my career after graduation and have health insurance. :thumbsup2

Thanks a lot for the link with the exercises! I've printed them out and will give them a try. They certainly couldn't hurt, right? :) Thanks again for all of your help!

I take two pair of Keene sandals, switch mid day, and soak my feet in a hot bathtub every night. And I avoid long lines. .. I think that standing almost still is worse on the feet than walking.

Oh, yeah, and I drink. Excessively.

Yeah, I love mine too :cutie:. I did wear them all day when I went to Washington DC and my feet were fine...but I don't know, it seems like I walk more in DL. I think I'll give them a chance anyway. I may even get a pair of the tennis shoes TOMS. Also, I tend to like flat shoes, so I'm not too worried about the arch support thing. The only shoes I ever wear are Uggs, TOM's, and occasionally flats. Everything else is uncomfortable and restricting!

Hahaha - that's so me!!! I love it. Ok so yeah, really...... I'll wear a different style of flip flops each day at the park, so my feet get some slight change each day, but I DO bring along heels for evening dinners out, to wear when I can! :D

Just saw the cutest new crocs for girls:

Too bad my big ole size 8 foot can't wear them... LOL!

Really, though - these would be super cute for little girls to wear at the park! And probably really COMFY, too! :lovestruc
