shoes

since my feet are size 11:scared1:I try to never wear big ugly shoes. I wear sandals and always have a pedicure. :lmao:

unfortunately, I can't wear crocs. I bought a pair and tried to wear them in the parks, and they really hurt my feet. They are just too wide for my narrow foot, and don't have enough arch support for me. I think they are actually sort of cute, too!

I usually wear a pair of Merrell sandals in the warmer months. The kind that have adjustable straps with velcro. The other sandals that I wear and feel great are made by Keen--they are called Keen Catalina, and also have velcro adjustable straps:http://www.rei.com/product/767675

In colder months I wear Mephisto:

with "walking socks"--which are socks that are made to prevent blisters. You can buy these socks at walking stores or ortho shoe stores.

Flip flops are actually not good for your feet when you are walking a lot. They don't provide the support necessary for your foot, arch and ankles. I know people love them, and I have been known to wear them at DL too, so I get why they are a popular choice.

Try LL Beans version of crocs. They come in narrow widths and they are actually cute. I have a red lined pair for winter. Love them.

Oh I'm not going to dispute that, but I couldn't have survived without mine when I was at DLR.

I am another FitFlop lover! I took 2 trips to Disneyland where I wasn't brave enough to try wearing the flip flops all day and my feet were always hurting and I get blisters on the bottoms of my little toes where they rub together. Then I finally braved trying flip flops in the parks. First I wore my Teva Mush and they were okay but my legs were tired by midday. Next, I wore my FitFlops and I was in heaven!! My feet were perfect and my legs weren't tired even after a 10 hour park day. I have take two five day trips to Disneyland and worn the FitFlops all day every day without a problem. We are going again next week and I am worried that it might be too cold in my FitFlops so I bought a pair of the Skecher Tone-Ups clogs to try. They have the same construction as the FitFlops so I hope they are as comfortable. I might go out and buy some toe socks, just in case.

Good luck with whatever you choose. I know people say you can't get enough support from flip flops, but the FitFlops have a lot of foot support. I find my feet and legs are much healthier if they have a more free range of motion.

I have a pair of croc flip-flops but Im affraid to wear them to the parks...I'm always worried that standing in lines all day that someone if not many will step on my toes :(

^^^Oh, I never thought of that. I have ingrown toenails which is why I don't liked my feet squished into shoes. It hasn't happened yet though. I think the comfort of my sandal crocs outweighs the fear of having my toes stepped on.

I think that there is a big misconception with flip flops in general. If you are wearing the standard flat ones that are used for the beach, then these are the ones that have no support, and hard to do long haul walking with. But if you've got a flip flop with lots of support, such as the Fitflops, Teva's and other's that have good support, then they are long term just a comfortable as other means of footwear. I wear the Fit flops for the support they give my lower back, and have lowered my chronic back pain by 85% since I started wearing them 14 months ago. I wear them year round, and quite frankly don't give a hoot to those who give me a bad time about wearing them in the winter months. The only time that I don't wear them is days like today where it's -3, and 4 to 6 inches of the white stuff is predicted today.

I have some sandals very similar to the Merrell and they hurt my feet. The Mephisto looks interesting, but there is no way I can pay $165 for a shoe and hope it works for me. For some reason, I ALWAYS get a blister on the inside bottom of my baby toe on my right foot.

Have you considered using some preventative moleskin on that toe? Just put in on where you think it's going to rub and go about your walking. It works wonders for breaking in shoes for me!

My grandpa had this old remedy for ingrown toenails that my mom swears by - just take a fingernail file and file the top part of the toenail, right down the middle. I guess if you thin that out enough, it becomes more flexible and relieves the pressure on the sides. Of course, I guess it would depend on how bad they are, but we do this at the first sign of a problem and have never had to have surgery or anything for them.

Yep - didn't work! When we went to WDW for a week, I had practically my whole foot covered in moleskin and I still had several blisters on both feet.

I've also been a huge fan of Crocs in the parks... but after a week of hiking in rainforests and around Old San Juan in Puerto Rico in October in my VFF's, I am definitely taking those to Disneyland next week. I was skeptical at first, but I've never had less issues with my feet/legs/back in those things, and they are ridiculous comfy. Like being barefoot. Website here: www.vibramfivefingers.com

I think those are probably great. Way more natural for your foot. I have gone barefoot whenever I can. I have diabetes so I have to be careful now. I will have to try those.

So I decided to take some of the advice here and bought myself my first pair of Crocs. My first reaction when I put them on was, "OMG - I have Ronald McDonald feet!" I tried on the red ones. I settled on the light pink ones and I think I love them. I have worn them here and there and I think they are going to be perfect for Disneyland. I thought I wanted bright colored shoes, but they really looked like clown shoes. The light pink is much better.

I'm a *I don't care if my feet hurt - I love to wear shoes and look good!* kind of gal. So I personally bring along many different pairs of slip on sandles/thongs and I find if I don't wear the SAME one more than a day, they aren't too bad!

I seriously laughed out loud when I read your post! I guess cuz I felt the same way back when I first tried them. I have to admit I don't get bright colored ones...I've had brown (the disney mary janes), blue (disney), and the tan. What's funny is when I see others with the bright colored crocs on I don't think CLOWN SHOES!! But when I'm in them I do!! LOL!!
Enjoy your crocs you will NOT be disappointed but will become addicted!

I ordered a few pairs off the website while they were having a sale. They should be in any day now. I can not wait to try them on.

I wear my Dansko clogs. I have high arches and they are the only things that keep my feet from being really sore. They work better than any of my tennis shoes.

Our feet must be related! I haven't had any surgery on my feet but I get a blister on the bottom each my little toes and usually the toes next to those every Disney trip. I've tried a few different shoes (from Lands End, Skechers, etc), wearing socks that are supposed to help wick away moisture, and tons of moleskin and blister Bandaids. I keep putting off going to a podiatrist and still looking for shoe(s) or other items that will help save my little piggies! Anyways, let me know how the Crocs work for you or if anyone has found a shoe solution to a similar problem.

You wear you Dansko clogs to the parks? Dansko's are probably the best solution I have found to help support my low arches at work, but I still can't wear them daily (leads to achy toes after multiple days, but that's my feet probs vs. anything wrong with the shoes). However, if I could wear them daily I would think I would find them too "clunky" and heavy for days in the parks?
