Hello! My mom and I will be going to WDW in Sept, and I was wondering about comfortable footwear. I know a lot of people swear by Crocs, but which styles? I am up for any and all tips! Thank you. :)

I have read that alot too (about Crocs)
I do not like Crocs and I would not be comfy in them all day.
Mom and I wear tennis shoes. We have always been tennis shoes people when we do alot of walking (fairs, amusement parks, zoos etc)
I would say the best advice is just wear something that is well broke in and that you can walk in. We also bring 2 pairs, to trade out each day so our feet kind of get a break.
Hope that helps!
We are alse heading the the World in Sept!!!:cool1::cool1:
Have a wonderful vacation

I totally agree with the last post!!! Although everyone has their prefrence when my neice and I tried Croqs on our first trip I had terrible blisters and she ended up renting a wheelchair. You need to understand that you walk miles and miles while in the world and I just don't think they are made for that. They are good for putting on for a quick ride on Kali or Splash but for your money I would look into a shoe that is like a sneaker with velcro on top and vents on the side. I have gotten a few good pairs from Lands End. They have the bottem of a sneaker and cover toes but the rest is like a sandel.I also like the sandels made by Merell and Teva.( I think they may be called trek sandals or all terrain sandals?) I am sorry I don't pay more attention to the names of things when I buy them but I hope this helps. Good luck on your vacation.

Like the OP have said, it is really about your personally preference. I HATE tennis shoes, I always have and I probably always will. My feet get to hot and hurt by the end of the day, that is a day not at a park but just running errands around town. With that being said, I am a flip flop girl. Start wearing them in mid march and don't take them off until sometime late oct early nov (we live in central tx). I love the sanuk brand and also reef brand flip flops. If it were me, I'd wear whatever is most comfortable in your closet. If your like your tennis shoes wear them, just do what is best for you.

BTW both my parents wear only crocs at the parks and they wear them 3 or 4 days a week while at home. They love them, I on the other hand don't, although I have yet to try some of their new flip flops ;)

I can't do tennis shoes, either.

I wore my Crocs to WDW and plan on wearing them again our next trip... I like the Mary Jane style best!

I wear a combo of things....Pearlizumi tennis shoes are the most comfy tennis shoes ever because they have one smooth piece of fabric inside and no seams. I also wear Mary Jane Crocs and Reef flip flops (the plain black basic ones are best). The most important thing is to not wear the same shoes two days in a row.

What style of Reef flip flops. I'm a huge flip flop/sandal girl and I'm trying to figure out what would offer the best support.

IMO-everyone has different feet, therefore various comfort level.

My husband wears Crocs (Athens) flip flops and alternates them with his tennis shoes. He's a runner and very particular with his footwear.

I, on the other hand have feet issues! :sad2: Wide, flat-footed with bunionettes on both sides. Cannot, and I mean CANNOT wear cheap flip flops or I will suffer! I totally LOVE my Crocs flip flops (Capri with canvas) and use them every day for hours. Live by them at home as well. Now, I think it's a great :thumbsup2 idea to bring a different kind of comfy footwear and alternate it so that feet can get some rest. (I personally thought that hubby just does it bec he packs way too much :ssst:) I really don't care for anything closed in because with heat, feet swells, then starts rubbing the insides it that normally wouldn't.

So, I guess...it's all different for everyone...Wear what's comfortable for YOU.

I hate wearing shoes period. So wearing tennis shoes at WDW makes me grouchy. I love my TEVA sandals! Most comfortable park shoes ever. Since I have wide feet they are perfect since you can adjust the width. Lots of support. My sister works for a podiatrist and swears by these sandals so much she has them too.

For our trip next month, I'm bringing two pairs of shoes: standard crocs, plus my favorite Keene Newports. For the longer park days, it'll be the Keene's. Resort days, water park days, and half days in the parks, it'll be the Crocs.

The kids and DW will likely wear their Teva's most of the time, but both DW and DD10 picked up some of the Land's End mesh sneakers at Sears that they're both in love with!

Thank you so much for the great ideas! I will try out the Teva's and the Croc flip flops. I do have a pair of tennis shoes but I think my feet will get to hot, but I will try them cause you never know! Thanks again:)

If you go to payless they have slip on shoes in various patterns and colors ALL over the place that are not only REALLY comfy but stylish and cheap.

I've had luck with New Balance sneakers. I did buy a pair of Teva Mush to wear on my upcoming trip, just because it's going to be 200 degrees outside and I am trying to wear as little clothing as possible (and socks count!)

you can check out their website, but the one which I would suggest is ‘Gabe’. They look nice and are most comfortable and good for days in parks or any rides at WDW trip.

I have 'bad' feet and had 3 surgeries so this is my kind of thread - I can give you some tips based on my 'bad' feet. But I don't let my bad feet ruin my life. I run 20+ miles a week and walk A LOT. And I will wear high heels if the occasion calls for it! So here are some tips from ME and what I've learned:

- In general, the best shoes are shoes that allow for a 1 to 2 inch difference between your toe and heel. This gives your feet a natural lift in back which helps the arch.

- Platforms with heels (not excessive Lada Gaga) are more stable than shoes with just heels. I try to find my nicer shoes with a little platform under the toe portion.

- Crocs are very bad for MY feet. I'm not getting in a discussion here. I know people like Crocs but they are bad ... I'll qualify that as bad for ME, but really, they are bad shoes.

- Use orthotics if you are an over-pronator or under-pronator (flat footed). This only works in certain, closed-toe shoes.

- It is best to switch out your shoes each day. Don't wear the same shoes twice in a row. For Disney though, I usually wear one pair during the day, another in the afternoon, and another at night (see below).

- If you are prone to tripping (especially for children), get a closed-toe shoe (they make sandals now that will cover your big toe!)

- Tennis shoes, while good for your feet, can be HOT and cause other issues so if you are going during a hot time, be wary of tennis shoes.

- My favorite Disney shoes are....

Daytime - Tevas! They have a padding underneath the straps now so the straps don't dig into your skin, have the option of a strap over the big toe (but I don't have that), have formed arches, can go in water, dry easily, and are ANTI-BACTERIAL. These work great at the water park as well as walking around a theme park.

Afternoon - Platform Flip flops (an inch difference between the toe and heel) - I ONLY use these to walk to the pool and back or walk around the hotel room. That is it - I NEVER use these to walk around a park or in a waterpark.

Evening - DANSKO sandals (that have an inch difference between the toe & heel) - I have black 'strappy' sandals that have a thick platform sole. Danskos have a natural arch support that were recommended by my podiatrist. These shoes have lasted a long time and look nice even if I choose to wear a skirt or dress for the evening.

NIGHT - socks! I wear lightweight socks around the hotel room and just in case they get cold at night :)

No matter what kind of sneakers I wear, even if they are comfortable for jogging/walking around the block, I can never wear them to amusement parks or site seeing. I just wear flip flops (I have a preference for the Roxy brand) and wore them when we went to Frontier Days in Cheyenne, WY and site seeing in CO last summer.

My mom and old sisters wear Clarks sandals or these Easy Spirit backless slip on sneakers. I guess I can't post links in posts yet because I haven't posted enough, but they get them from Macy's and they are called Travel Time. You can see them on the Macy's website.

I do have some Crocs I wear for work and they are seriously the only shoes I can wear regularly to work without my feet killing me. Malindi (on the Crocs website) is the style I wear and truthfully, they aren't very "Croc" looking if you know what I mean LOL.

I think in general the best advice is to wear shoes that your feet are already used to. If you wear flip flops all the time in your normal life, putting on a pair of sneakers just for the parks is going to kill your feet (doubly so if they're brand new!) and the same goes vice versa, for crocs, etc.

If you want to wear something other than your normal footwear to the parks, you're best bet is to buy early and wear them every day for a few months before you visit. They'll get worn in, your feet will be used to them, and hopefully that'll make your feet happy for your 298347987 mile trek around the world. :goodvibes

Personally, I wear my Old Navy flip flops so much that I've developed calluses for them. Nothing is more comfortable for me to walk around in for hours.

My favorites:

#1 Teva Mush Flip flops
#2 Keen Newport

Not a fan of any crocs (way overrated IMO), including their flip flops, except the mammoths and they would be just silly with shorts...:rotfl:

Whenever I'm going to do a good deal of walking, I need to wear supportive shoes. I used to live in flip flops, but since I overpronate I need support and had to kiss my beloved flippies goodbye. I wear either Keens, Birkenstocks, or my spare running shoes whenever I'm going to be walking a lot.

So far I have found the Disney Cayman crocs to be the best. Wore them for 9 straight days and never did get blisters or aching feet. Have worn them for the last 4 years.
