Shoes... the good, the bad and the ugly

Sorry to chime in here, but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend sandals that don't have the strap between the toes?
Help!

Tiffany

They make Chaco sandals that go between the toes and another stale that just crosses over the top of your foot.

Personally, I have a pair of really worn in Vans and those are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn down to Disney, but Pumas are a really good brand of sneakers as well.

I have a pair of Ryka women's athletic sandals that I bought from QVC a few months ago.I personally don't like to wear socks and tennis shoes in the summer heat with a lot of walking. The item number on the QVC website is A02157.The sandals are very comfortable. In the comment section one woman commented that she wore her sandals to Walt Disney World and they were very comfortable with all of the walking.Check out the comments on the sandals if you look them up on the website.

I just bought a pair of Nike Air Tennis Shoes but don't know the exact name. The inside says Bowerman series. This sides look like a mesh fabric and they have some shiny sections and a bright blue. The salesman recommended them for arch support when they didn't have what I normally buy. I was a little afraid because I normally buy plain white and these looked a little flashy for me.

They are very comfortable and flexible and you can feel the ventilation. They feel light but are supportive. They won't work for a PA winter but my first thought was "I can't wait to wear these at WDW!" I'm thinking of buying another pair now to save since we won't be going until next year and I hate when they change models so fast.

Forget the sneakers...way to hot and it involves wearing socks. Not to mention your feet getting wet with the Florida rainshowers. I wore Croc flip flops (Athens) and could not believe how comfortable flip flops could be. I do have a pair of the old, ugly style also but once I got the flip flops I hardly ever wear them anymore. The other benefit to Crocs is if your feet get wet on a ride they dry in minutes.

Hi,
I didn't believe it until I tried it!
I wore crocs for 8 days straight at WDW in April and never a blister.
My sneakers stayed in the hotel room.
Oddly, my new Mickey crocs were more comfortable than my old ones-- you would think the old ones would be broken in and more comfortable, but it was not the case.

I know Crocs are "ugly" but if my feet aren't happy, nobody's happy!
I wear Birkenstocks too! I have to have happy feet!

I agree with OKW Lover. What works for one person may not work for another. I always wear tennis shoes; actually, on the last trip (last month) I took Avia walking shoes. I am a Croc and flip-flop wearer, but I just can't chance it in the parks. I'm so worried I'll get a bad blister and be stuck there with those shoes. This time I did buy the Coolmax socks (footies) and they were great, and the walking shoes are very light. My DD16 wears flip flops with no problems, and my DD13 has always worn Crocs, no socks, with no problems. So it really is different for different people.

I vote for the Keens Newport. I think it is a very individual choice. I need support and padding to feel comfortable, both feet and calves after a full day of walking. Some folks prefer the almost barefoot feel of flip flops.
I wear my Teva flip flops around the house and they are great: light weight and cushiony. I have Teva ventura cork-soled sandals that are good for work. But for WDW, only the support and cushion of the Keens will do for me. (Have never tried Crocs, they just don't look comfy to me).

Good luck!

Hi there...I agree that sneakers will make your feet miserably sweaty and swollen...and personally I don't find Crocs supportive enough, although I don't think they are so bad looking as many have suggested.

What works for me are a pair of Ecco sandals. They aren't cheap (around $100) but they are made to last and I'm going on my third trip this August expecting these to be my park shoes for sure. I also wear them on my walks around the neighborhood instead of sneakers...that's how comfy they are. Check them out....go to shoebuy.com or some website like that if you can't find them in the stores. I got mine at a specialty shoe store that carries high-end shoes for people with foot problems.
*IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THESE, SEE A FEW POSTS BELOW., I ADDED A LINK FOR THE WEBSITE AND A COUPON FOR $10 OFF!!*

Also, I find the arches in Keen's to be uncomfortably high, so if you are planning on trying those out make sure to take them for a test run in a store before purchasing :thumbsup2

Just an FYI. With the Avia walking shoes I bought that had mesh panels and the Coolmax socks, my feet never got sweaty or swollen. My feet always get sore when I walk a lot — I'm just cursed with feet that get sore — but they weren't hot at all.

Can anyone tell me if the MBT shoes are heavy?

the MBT sandals weigh 0.8 lb each. (thought better to give an absolute answer than a "I think they're quite light.... " LOL)

You might need to wear them for a couple of weeks first before tackling the miles and miles of walking at disney. (You might not - I was told when I bought my first pair that I should wear them for an hour or so a day at first and work up - I THINK the instructional dvd also said the same thing - I know I was forewarned of this and got mine a good month beforehand). As shoes go, I think they are a little aesthetically challenged, but comfort is #1 priority.

The UGLY = Crocs - far and way!!!! You can tell me til you're blue in the face how comfy they are but nothing can take away the ugly!:crazy2:

I used to feel the same way about Crocs, until I found the Malindi (http://shop.crocs.com/pc-825-4-mali...41p&subsectionname=footwear&section=products). I love them! They are really comfortable and I think they are a lot better looking than the normal clog type ones. My DH still hates them though and begs me not to wear them. :lmao:

They're very light, but also very expensive, so I'm not sure you'd want to invest over $200 for a pair of sneakers to use for vacation.
Last year I bought some Fitflops™. They are amazingly comfortable, absorb shock, and help tone your thighs and hiner. They are all I wear in the warm months. My legs and feet never hurt like they do when I wear regular flipflops.

I liked the first pairs so much, I ended up buying two more pairs in other colors.

If you have a very high arch, I'd suggest going up a size.

If anybody is interested in the Ecco sandals I mentioned, they have them on a website called "Shoebuy.com" and they have free shipping as well as free return shipping. Also, no tax, so you save a decent chunk there. The style I wear throughout WDW is called "Yucatan" and they have them in a bunch of color combos. They are $119 and worth every penny. Here is a $10 off coupon (hope the link works....if not PM me your email address and I will send it to you directly to try)...

Good luck...if anyone decides to go with these let me know how you like 'em!
