Shoes For the Parks...

I just spent over $100 on two pairs of "park" shoes. They felt "oh so good" in the store. One pair was a Clark's Privo and the other pair was an Easy Spirit slide type of thing.

I have worn the Privos around the house and running some errands. They don't feel so good anymore.:sad2:

Last night, I did some power shopping for my trip (about 2 hours on my feet and walking fast) wearing the Easy Spirits. My feet were NOT feeling good when I got home. This shoe is a slide and at the back of the shoe, there is a ridge so I guess your heel can't slide off. Well, by the end of the night, it was kind of digging into my left heel.

Now, I don't know WHAT to do. Everything feels good in the store, but not so much after an hour or so.

And, yes, I've tried on Crocs. Besides being absolutely hideous, they just do not fit me well. I have a fairly narrow foot and my foot moves around in these things so much that I feel like I'll walk right out of them. As much as I would be totally embarrassed wearing them, I think I would do it if my feet would feel good, but they REALLY don't fit.

I tried on some Teva's last night, also, and the straps seemed to really be bothersome (and that was just going around the store).

Any more suggestions. I've got two more shopping days.

Which Teva did you try? The Hurricane II doesn't seem to have good padding on the strap, so they bother my feet a lot. The Pretty Rugged Nylon is a lot better with the padding, so I can wear them constantly.

Yep, it was the Hurricane. *MY* mall only had one store that carried Teva's so that was the only one I could try. I'll have to get out to another mall and try to find some different styles.

They're kind of tough to find around here! Do you have a Dick's? That might be a place to try.

I just ordered myself a second pair off of Amazon.

Good luck. I know how tough it is to find a good comfortable shoe.

Hey I just posted about the easy spirits that I got and LOVE! Did you try the Airflowing(it is an open sneaker with a strap in the back to keep it on) It is crazy comfy. Also Keen makes a great sport sandal! I wore those all last year in the summer and they were great- my feet felt fine after looooooong days.

I can't do anything with a strap on the back. My heels are obviously not "prominent" enough and the strap NEVER stays up. I've tried a few in that style because I really like them but they just don't work for me.

My son had Keen's on our last trip. They are very nice. Right now, though, I'm just not near a store that carries them. I'd have to make a trip to the "big" mall. Hopefully I will have time. My trip is this coming Friday.

I have to second the opinion on the Keens. DS and I both have a pair of Newports. Mine are the H2, his the regular Newport. We both wore them exclusively for 4 full days last February.

I love my Teva Niyati. they don't make them anymore.
It has the strap in between the 2 toes, nut they are so comfortable. :goodvibes

I have a pair of TEVAs too but can't remember which kind... I love them. But I have to tell you that the little hand under my heel caused me trouble the first day in the parks. It rubbed something fierce. I had to go buy moleskin to cover it up. But after that they were great. I never even felt like I had anything on my feet and wore them the WHOLE week. I love them. This is year # 3 and I wear them all summer(minus the moleskin now LOL).

It is a pair with the straps. Sandal type. I will try and look up the style for you. It was in the Terra line... Neither of the current styles look just like it but the Terra Fi 2 looks more like mine. They have extra thick sole.... and thicker straps. do not rub. Just wonderful. They do not look worn at all and this is year #3.

I swear by flip flops! :scared1: I know, I know but not any flip flops. Reef are the best! I wear them everywhere (weather permitting) and have never had a problem. They are only about $40 and never make my feet hurt. I have worn them to Disney for a week and although I was tired as could be, my feet were happy! :cool1:

I just tried to find my style but I don't see them. :( Here's the site though: www.reef.com

Slides can be awful for your feet because they force your toes to grip weird and make you walk oddly......and you really don't even realize you're doing it.
Think of it this way, you won't see marathon runners wearing slides....there are several reasons why. LOL

Kmart sells a brand called "Cobbie Cuddles" and OMG they're soft and they are comfortable right out of the box. I haven't had to wear them in at ALL......another nice thing about them is they only cost $25-30.
These are the most ridiculously comfortable shoe I've ever had on my feet.

Good luck shoe shopping!

This is my most favorite park walking sandal that I own right now. They have some very nice comfortable slides too.
Sports Authority and Macys have a decent selection usually. I hope you can find something that makes your feet happy before you go!

DH only wore his Keens for the whole trip and didn't get one blister. I'll probably get a pair for the next trip.

I wore slides tp Epcot one year and got terrible blisters on the back of my feet. They were comfortable in the store but the little raised part in the back really rubbed after a while!

I only wear tennis shoes at the parks and usually take two pairs. Well and a pair of sandals/flip-flops for at the hotel. There is nothing worse that having sore feet when your spending multiple days at WDW.

There used to be a reall funny website devoted to horrible choices in footwear at the parks.... badshoe.com I'll have to check and see if it's still there.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I was out shopping today and found NOTHING. Because of the Easter Break traffic on I-95, I am sort of stuck in my area (absolute gridlock out there!) and I couldn't find Teva's or Keen's ANYWHERE.

I went to one store that had Crocs and made another attempt at fitting in them. Walked all around the store and my feet just came right out of them (this is the "Beach" style). Honestly, I don't know HOW people can keep these on their feet! They must have Fred Flinstone feet!;)

I also went to K-Mart to check out the Cobbie Cuddlers but, for some reason, my K-Mart only has these shoes in Wide sizes. I tried an 8.5 Wide on but it was just way too loose.

I'm sure I'll find something before Friday, but it sure isn't easy. I need MORE stores!!!

OK this is weird but sometimes if a wide shoe is too wide for me I try on a smaller size and it ends up fitting length and width. If you don't find another shoe before you leave go back and try a smaller Cobbie Cuddly....it might just work! I do know how odd it sounds...honest! LOL
I feel for you.....having shoes that don't fit and KNOWING you'll end up with sore feet just isn't a fun thought.

LOVE the Fred Flintstone feet in crocs. :lmao:

Well, I did leave this part out of my post, but I did try the Cobbie's in an 8 and 7.5 and they still didn't fit correctly. I wonder why they only had wides?

That is weird isn't it? Maybe the only women who buy Cobbies are women with clown feet?
What does that say about me?

:rotfl:

I wish they'd let us go barefoot at WDW. Wouldn't that be great? :cool1:
